I think this is wrong, if I show you the results can anyone help? Not good news on a Friday when doctors are now closed 😞

If they were all abnormal then yes that'll be a mistake.

mindutopia · 01/12/2023 17:46

Which ones were abnormal? What were the reasons for doing the investigations?

AddictedToBooks · 01/12/2023 17:46

Please try not to worry too much - have you seen these on your Patient Access app?
I nearly always have practically everything abnormal when I have a full blood count as I have a severe blood disorder due to malfunctioning bone marrow and overproduction of red blood cells.
The doctors will have seen your results and if there is anything seriously wrong, they will call you even if it's out of surgery hours.
A few years ago, I had a serious problem and I got a phonecall at 8pm on a Saturday night from an on-call doctor who told me I needed to get into hospital for a blood transfusion asap.
I've had less scary ones too where out of hours doctors have phoned me to ask me to stop taking a certain med because it had thrown my sodium out.

If it's something really serious, you will be contacted regardless of the day or time.
I hope you're okay and I hope this reassure you a little

Who did the blood tests? Usually the GP surgery will phone you and ask you to have a telephone consultation with the doctor so they can talk you through them all, and anything else that needs to happen. eg you might need some vitamin or iron tablets.

bookworm1982 · 01/12/2023 18:28

It was on the nhs app, and also on the doctors website. From what I can see, there's an issue with my iron, everything else they've got wrong and it's ok could you just cast your eyes over these and let me know I'm not going mad Smile

But the majority of those are within the normal range, they're certainly not ALL abnormal!

If your number is between the other two, that's normal

Mummymummy89 · 01/12/2023 18:37

The only one I can spot so far is that your ferritin is slightly low. Nearly everything else is spot on normal

Mummymummy89 · 01/12/2023 18:38

Oh and your "transferrin", not sure what that is, is slightly outside range

Lizzieregina · 01/12/2023 18:38

Agree with @Mummymummy89 . The vast majority are within normal range. The only one I saw slightly outside was Eosinophils.

Kinneddar · 01/12/2023 18:38

Theyre not all abnormal at all. What makes you think they are?

Mummymummy89 · 01/12/2023 18:39

Lizzieregina · 01/12/2023 18:38

Agree with @Mummymummy89 . The vast majority are within normal range. The only one I saw slightly outside was Eosinophils.

That one's not a problem I believe, it just means you're recovering from a cold or something... I'm not a doctor though

mauvish · 01/12/2023 18:40

Agree with @Mummymummy89 . Almost all these results (thyroid, liver, kidneys, full blood test, B12) are perfectly normal.
Can't comment on your cholesterol without extensive knowledge of your background but that level is likely to be fine.
What exactly is worrying you?

Mojolostforever · 01/12/2023 18:41

There are nearly all normal. If there was anything urgent, your doctor would have contacted you.
Make an appointment as requested, but I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Mummymummy89 · 01/12/2023 18:41

The moral of the story is that this new system, where you can access your own test results, is terrible. If you're not medically trained, or can't interpret numbers, you just get confused and panic.

I think the eosinophil are normal actually, 0.08 is between 0.0 and 0.4

evrey · 01/12/2023 18:42

Most of these are normal , a couple Aren't but nothing that indicates anything serious.
I honestly wouldn't lose any sleep over these results. Speak to your gp on Monday and ask ,for the iron/ferrous and B12 results to be explained to you

Fizzadora · 01/12/2023 18:46

Kinneddar · 01/12/2023 18:38

Theyre not all abnormal at all. What makes you think they are?

Because that's what it says on the top of every page.
Result Abnormal ...Make an appointment to see a doctor..

@bookworm1982 if others are saying the results aren't out of normal range then it may just be an error with the page the results are on.
If you are going to struggle and worry about it all weekend then you could try calling 111 or maybe go to your local walk in centre to see if someone can give you some reassurance, otherwise I would send a email request if your GP has this service or call on Monday for an appointment.

Lifeinlists · 01/12/2023 18:46

When my blood results were abnormal the first I knew about it was a phone call telling me to go to hospital with my overnight things. They certainly didn't leave it to me to make an appointment.

I think you're panicking about the word abnormal at the top of the page, which, out of context is a bit bald.

Headband · 01/12/2023 18:48

I agree they are mostly all normal , I wouldn't lose sleep op .

AceofPentacles · 01/12/2023 18:49

It says abnormal at the top because you had an abnormal result not that they are all abnormal

CumbrianYorkshireHybrid · 01/12/2023 18:51

You're wrong. Most of those are fine, with a couple out of range. No need to panic.
I've had some that were so mad they thought the results were spurious. In such a situation they call immediately.

I had to go straight into hospital just in case and had to sit for two hours for the of new bloods. I drove there but I had to hold onto the nurse just to go to the loo, on the off chance they were right. I felt a bit daft. They didn't think they could correct because I'd have been unconscious with the levels they had from the first test.

Of course they were right. I have a life limiting condition so I'm used to feeling awful. I wasn't even allowed home to collect a bag. Five blood transfusions, two iron infusions and a week in hospital followed that one.

bookworm1982 · 01/12/2023 18:52

Thanks everyone, I feel reassured now. For everyone asking why I am worried, I got a text from my doctors surgery saying my blood results were back and I needed to make an appointment. Then I looked on BOTH the NHS app and my own profile on my doctors website and they were all listed as 'abnormal'. So yes, I can see that they look ok, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going mad and missing something. It's obviously an error made by my doctors. Xx
