Mites in eyelashes - do they not get removed/disturbed

by eye make up removal/application? This was my thought in the shower!

I have never had mites in my eyelashes (as far as I know!) so don't know for certain, but they would be removed, surely? If the makeup remover can take off waterproof mascara then I would have thought it would also take off mites!

Deathraystare · 01/12/2023 09:58

I thought I read that we DO have them in our eyelashes?

Maybe not mites but I am sure I read somewhere that we have some critters naturally (too small to see) I don't mean I am infested!

Yes - I've seen that too. Little microscopic critters that live there, freeloading off us.

NoodleNuts · 01/12/2023 10:03

Wow - I never knew that!! >>>runs off to Google>>>>

Micro fauna in eyelashes is a thing, but they're miniscule and hide quite well so survive a good scrub etc.

Even more horrific though, is that crab lice infestation in eyelashes is a thing, and they're easily visible. Google it if you want sleepless nights

Swearwolf · 01/12/2023 10:11

My optician told me that you're supposed to rub a bit of shampoo on while you're in the shower, obviously with your eyes closed and rinse off before you open them.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 01/12/2023 10:14

Not if it's Johnsons No More Tears shampoo. Shutting your eyes just made it worse 😡

Deathraystare · 01/12/2023 10:30

Thanks @AmandaHoldensLips and @c3pu

For a minute there I would I had imagined it as I was sure I had read about them.

I've seen this in real life. It was exactly as disgusting as you'd think it was. It was an ill thought out one night stand in my teens. I only noticed them in the morning 🤮

Deathraystare · 01/12/2023 10:33

@c3pu

Oh lord I just googled! I don't have this honest!

I ended up with scabies too, as if that wasn't vile enough.

pickledandpuzzled · 01/12/2023 10:34

Your body needs its micrbiome! Best not to try and kill it off.

c3pu · 01/12/2023 10:37

My work here is done!
