Annoying things your pets do!

Just pondering this subject whilst filling up a Tupperware container with water in our en-suite because our dog won't drink from any other bowl or in any other room.
What annoying things do your pets do?
Another drink related one, our old dog would jump up at the bathroom basin as he preferred fresh water and whinge until we turned the tap on for him.

Oh and we have all our sofas and beds covered in throws, but the dog will always find the tiny centimetre squared with no throw on and plonk her bum right there. Every. Single. Time.

My cat manages to always find the very few bits of carpet we have in the house when he needs to vomit. We have wooden floors in 90% of the house but no. Always the carpet.

My cat Insists on sleeping on me whatever position I’m lying in in bed. This morning it was on the side of my rib cage which is a new one !

cardibach · 30/11/2023 18:17

My cat stares at me and meows increasingly loudly from about 2pm because she thinks it’s dinner time. That’s at about 4.30. She also meows loudly outside the bathroom if I shut the door.
I could go on. Pretty much everything she does is annoying. Last night she sat on some chocolate and is now melting it everywhere while refusing to let me clean it or to clean it herself.
Bloody lucky she’s cute.

No matter where I go to sleep (my bed or spare bed if DH is snoring) the cat curls up exactly where my feet need to be so I end up bent like a pretzel with a bad back or risk getting an almighty hiss if I dare try and straighten out.

hiredandsqueak · 30/11/2023 18:24

Ddog likes the living room door open even though she can leave through the adjoining dining room door. If I close the door to keep out the draughts from the hallway she goes through the dining room into the hallway and jumps at the living room door to open it. It's like a game of chess trying to sit down with the door closed.

MermaidEyes · 30/11/2023 18:29

Every time I fill the litter tray with fresh litter, mine like to both go and do a massive crap in it within about 5 minutes. Every time.

Gettingbysomehow · 30/11/2023 18:36

I have a black cat and a white cat so the fur shows up on whatever colour clothes I'm wearing.
Then they get the zoomies chasing each other all over the house smashing everything in their path.
They are devils.

itsywincydog · 30/11/2023 18:50

Oh yes. I get stared at from 3pm every day for food. Intensely.

Since it has got cold and wet outside my dog has started to refuse to go outside. He will run upstairs and sit right at the top wagging his tail super fast if I suggest going outside. I've taken to calling him into the kitchen, shutting the door so he can't escape the room and then bullying him outside as he has no escape 🙄.

Theunamedcat · 30/11/2023 19:04

Doing a stinky poo when we have visitors I don't get it they are regular as clockwork usually I clean the litter trays first thing they all take a poo as soon as I've done it 😅 I then clean the poo out and the day is good! Today I had visitors my lovely cat a, shit in the litter tray and b,ditched the dirty litter tray ALL OVER HIMSELF and ran all over the house spreading little bits of litter dust all over my freshly vacuumed house

Our cat wants nothing to do with us 23.5 hours of the day. She wants cuddles and snuggles at 4.30 am. She dribbles on us and ours in our ear and pounds at our necks. We tolerate this because 9 years ago she was a sad little orphan kitty. Which is when we first got her. No amount of dreamies or fish or gently coddled chicken has made her more user friendly except at 4.30 am

ALongHardWinter · 30/11/2023 19:24

My cat won't eat her food unless she's actually sitting and watching me dish it out into her bowl. I used to put some food down for her to have later if she didn't appear and pester for food at her usual meal times, but for some reason she never touches it.

SweetPetrichor · 30/11/2023 19:24

My tarantulas like to fill their water dishes with dirt…but it is very cute when they pat it down with their little feet.

JustNodIfYouCanHearMe · 30/11/2023 19:28

My kitten is obsessed with my keyboard and mouse, If he isn't sat on my keyboard he's across it, touching it, his tail over it, one single claw in the side of it, one ear! If not that then he's guarding my mouse so I can't use it..

I recently told a man I had been talking to online that I needed some space and its best if we didn't chat for a while, an hour later kitten walked over my keyboard, opened up my conversation with the guy and typed '!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!djjifdkogkosdfdjihuasioww44444444444444@@@' to him, He has also managed to change some settings on my computer that I have no idea how to even get to using the same keyboard shortcuts!

Every single time I play a youtube video he minimizes the screen, turns my volume up, turns my volume down, turns subtitles on, makes the screen tiny, starts the video from the beginning etc

Love him to bits though!

One of my cats asleep on the back of the settle above my head. At some point, he'll have a smell of my hair or ear, which obviously don't smell great and he'll then snuggle and blow his nose in the area. Good job I love him.

CaveMum · 30/11/2023 20:19

Dcat is 17 years old. She has a glass of water by her food bowl in the kitchen and one on the bathroom floor upstairs because she will not deign to drink out of anything else. She will only sit on my lap (DH and the kids are too fidgity) and once I’ve eaten dinner of an evening will follow me around giving me the evil eye until I sit on the sofa where she pounces on me and promptly curls up for a sleep.

She also yowls on the upstairs landing in the middle of the night. We think she’s going senile and forgets where everyone is so I leave our bedroom door open but still she howls to be collected and popped on the end of our bed. Once I’m back in bed she gets straight on my legs and curls up again.

I’ll miss her when she’s gone.

Dahliasrule · 30/11/2023 20:23

itswincydog, at least the en-suite is inside. Our dog will only drink from the watering can outside our back door.
She is also a devil for grabbing the post. (Can’t have a box because the door opens out against the wall).
She has just started digging up our newly planted wallflower bed as a little shrew has made its nest there.
Good thing we love her.

mrsbyers · 30/11/2023 20:25

Slipper stealing and then guarding , every night when I try to turn over (he takes most of the bed) he growls and shoves the latest slipper in my face to have a fight over

IWIllDoItNowInAMinute · 30/11/2023 20:27

Our dog seems to purposely drop his toys behind the sofa etc and then barks until we get it for him. We pick it up and give it to him and then he does it again repeatedly. It’s like he is playing fetch with us.

mondaytosunday · 30/11/2023 20:35

Wake me up at 5am if not confined downstairs. Shed (cats). The dogs insisting on being walked every day no matter what the weather!

DuesToTheDirt · 30/11/2023 20:38

Rolls in the mud (horse).

itsywincydog · 30/11/2023 20:39

Oh yes, we have a game of roll a ball under the sofa and then paw at the sofa until someone retrieves it 🙄

One of our guinea pigs likes to poop in their food and water bowls. Yuk! Another of them likes to chew their hideys in spite of me giving them endless chewy g pig toys, loo rolls, hay.

I do love them though. I can't stay annoyed at them because they are so cute. One of them used to chew holes in my tops but he doesn't do that now thankfully.

Stresa22 · 30/11/2023 20:51

Tries to get me to follow her out into the garden. No! It’s raining, cold, lightning, whatever, but she wants me to take a turn with her.
