My house insurance renewal quote jumped from £400 to £780 this year. I changed provider. My car insurance quote has increased from £240 to £290.
I was just looking online to try to improve that & it occured to me:

I always insure fully comprehensive + good breakdown (I'm disabled so need it)
But my car is a 2002 Nissan XTrail so probably only worth about £1500.

Is Fully Comp worth it on an old car, or would 3rd party be cheaper?

I would do quotes for both options. IME 3rd party can actually be more expensive than fully comprehensive

I'm in exactly the same position and would like an answer so bumping for you.

I always just has 3rd party when I had old cars. Used to be much cheaper.

I reduced my insurance to third party when I was particularly broke years ago. Of course I had an accident and wrote the bloody car off almost immediately. So, so pissed off. I’d never have anything but fully comp again.

Well you just go on Compare the Market and get a quote for both. In under 5 minutes you too can find out that fully comp is cheaper for most people and has been for about a decade. But another provider might be cheaper.
You've indicated this is time sensitive, why are you on here trying to chat about it instead of going to a comparison site???

@SisterMichaelsHabit
I tried the meerkat site but my internet is flickering in & out & I kept losing my progress & also getting muddled so I thought I'd ask & see if there was an obvious answer so I only had to plough through one quote.

There are many Qu's on MN each day, some foolish, some less so.
