NHS Waiting Times

Not an NHS bashing thread! Just need some advice.

DH was referred to gastro for a colonoscopy 21 weeks ago. Just got the appointment letter - September 2024. 64 weeks between GP appointment and initial consultation with the relevant unit. Can this be right?? Is there any way we can get his appointment sooner?

It's not right. What we did is go back to the GP surgery explain the situation and then one of the secretaries looked at waiting times at other local hospitals, including private hospitals that were doing NHS work. Then they made a re-referral to one of those.

Thanks @StellarSue . If he doesn't call the GP today I am going to be that wife and call them tomorrow.

Strangely I had initial GP appointment to endo surgery in 8 months where we live!
