Britney Spears... What to make of it

I've watched some of the videos she's posted over the past months-year.

Just watched one from 3 hours ago.

I still don't know what to think.

I don't know if she's repeatedly dancing like this because she was denied freedom for so long, or is she suffering from some mental health issues, does she just want to do it?

I feel sorry for her but I just don't know what to make of it.

I don't understand why there's no one around her, husband etc helping her? Or does she not need to be helped

how is what she's doing any different to basically any influencer or other celeb on social media - like people doing tik tok trend dances and everything..

this exact thread comes up time and time again - what happened to her was absolutely horrific and people are always so mean and slag her off and go on about her mental health and how she needs help etc - you have no idea what she's feeling / going through / what help she is or isn't getting or what she needs really ! maybe she just enjoys dancing around her living room - so what !

Who's slagged her off?

The difference is her background obviously.

She spent her life as a dancer, maybe it brings her comfort. Maybe it makes her feel attractive, who knows.

Maybe instead of starting threads to judge women we could leave them be. It’s not your place to gossip about her. And you can say you’re just concerned or whatever, but this is is just a thread gossiping about a woman who’s had a really shit time, wrapped up in faux ‘concern’.

Interested in this thread?

She seems to be telegraphing her experiences without using words. Like ‘this is how you made me, this is what I was’, but its as if her struggle is to exhaust herself of them - there is similarity to ancient ‘purifying’ rituals.

Also, I’m sure I’ll be tut-tutted at for this, but some of the hand gestures, the one-eye, the triangle - you’ll be able to research, I’m not going there but Hollywood is said to be connected to satanism.

A previous poster mentioned her being ‘held against her will’ and you do wonder if that was what was going on for her sister in Celebrity?

Oh God, the Illuminati conversation has started and we’re only two pages in. You’ll be claiming they kill babies for their adrenal gland and traffic children in cupboards next.

By the way, you may want to understand what ‘Satanism’ is. Satanists don’t worship the devil. They spend their time doing good deeds for others.

I’ve just finished reading her book actually.

she did say at one point that being told what to do for so long and being so infantilised led to her not even knowing how to behave like an adult. and how could you? When everything you’ve been responsible for is taken away and you don’t get to make any decisions anymore. She sounds so hurt throughout the whole book.

Anyway. More related to your post, she also said she knows people thinks she’s weird for dressing up and dancing in her Instagram videos but that she doesn’t care and thinks it’s fun.

Agree. Dragging women is an evil learned habit that can be unlearned.

The faux concern manufactured to exploit women celebrities for clicks and profit, needs to go away and be seen and called out for what it is.

Freakinfraser · 30/11/2023 10:41

She is clearly mentally compromised in some shape or form. All she does is rhe half naked dances, poses, trying on clothes, and occasional rants. The comservatoireship was in place for a reason.

is she happy, I don’t know, not many do. I recall one of her lawyers saying she no longer had the capacity to understand and couldn’t recover, only be managed and be made comfortable .

Lots of speculation on what it is, but she’s very well protected, the cover page of her court document stated degenerative dementia, there is a young adult form which is rare, and obviously some speculation on other issues such as bpd, who knows though. Bpd doesn’t normally result in whole sale lack of capacity, so the dementia does make sense in that context.

I think she does look happy a lot of the time, when she’s doing her dances or trying on clothes. It appears to bring her some joy.

for info though she has kept the medical conservatoireship, she didn’t challenge it, it was the business one, her finances and freedom she challenged. Her nome is effectively a nursing home, with her as the only patient and she has a full time care manager, who she is very close to.

Came here to say exactly that - she knows people judge her for posting videos of herself playing dress up and doing random dances but she thinks it’s silly and fun and she just doesn’t care.

ReadyForPumpkins · 30/11/2023 10:46

I think it's very sad but since she's a grown woman, no one have the right to intervene. Otherwise, it's controlling her isn't it?

itzbritneybitch · 30/11/2023 10:52

Ugh the feign "how dare you judge" you're judging me rn.
Every human judges. Stop with the hierachy.

Her not knowing how to act without the control makes sense.

As I've said too many times on this thread, if she's making the decision to do it without being exploited and it's making her happy then go her but her eyes are telling me something else.

Lacks capacity to the degree of not understanding anything?

Really?

What like she cant decide what to wear or eat for breakfast, or how to do her hair? This makes her sound like she is semi comatose.

I dont believe that

To be honest her eyes probably look like that all the time, when shes making a coffee or putting her shoes on. It doesnt mean that because she is doing a dance, she is suddenly more vulnerable/exploited or unhappy

So how is making gossipy threads about her helping? You can try and deflect all you want, but this is a gossip thread about a woman who has had serious difficulties in her life. No one is judging YOU because we don’t know you or anything about you so that would be impossible but we are judging your choice of thread.

itzbritneybitch · 30/11/2023 10:58

@ItsTheCurtains
I've not said I'm trying to help her. I'm no hero.
I started a thread to try and learn more about her and her situation and others thoughts.
I'm too autistic to fake what little emotion I have.
If I wanted to judge her badly and simply gossip then I'd have started the thread saying so. I've not said one negative judgement about her.

If you read her recent autobiography she explains why she posts the dancing videos and why she’s often scantily clad.

All her life other people, the media, her family have commented on her body, she felt it wasn’t hers but a commodity for others - especially during the conservatorship situation, she couldn’t even control what she ate or what exercise she could do.

She had no creative control over her shows or choreography in her Vegas residency or for her tours while she was under the conservatorship.

Now she’s free to ‘own’ her body, it’s hers to share, to film under her own rules, she’s been controlled for so long and now she can control her own image & dances.

It’s all in her book, it’s worth a read.

Muddybooties · 30/11/2023 11:03

She’s divorcing at present

And it’s both “she was denied freedom for so longl” and is “suffering from some mental health issues”

Thank you for this. That's interesting and makes sense. I can relate to that feeling also.
I was only really young when I was listening to her but going back you can see a child being sexualised also.
I might buy the audio book!

so what is this if it isn’t a gossipy thread? You’re discussing her, making assumptions about her, wondering whether she is this or that. It’s a gossipy thread. End of.

There’s no nuance here, you’re gossiping (you can call that learning about others thoughts if you wish). And I’m neurodiverse too, I can still spot a gossip thread wrapped up in faux concern. You don’t NEED to learn anything more about her. Just because she had a singing career doesn’t mean you’re entitled to know anything more about her. If you want to learn more, buy her book and support her that way. Asking strangers for their opinions on her is not being kind or learning more. It’s gossiping about a woman you don’t know.

My dd has mental health issues and apparently spinning is quite common (according to her psychologist), it sets off certain chemicals in the brain and it feels good. But it also hypes my dd up when she does it, so it's a catch 22z

Its why the whirling dervishes go into a trance like state, which they view as being on another plane. Its just the way the brain works.
