Lovely London set lunch recommendations please!

I'm severely lacking inspiration. Need a table for Saturday lunch next month, central London, ideally set menu around £40ish pp. Ideally not a 'bubbles-and-brunch' type place iykwim.

We went to Noble Rot Soho last time, which was lovely, so suggestions along those lines would be fab. Had been looking at The Ninth so if anyone's been there, let me know!

I hated the Ninth with a passion! We booked in advance, arrived on time for lunch, they hadn't finished setting up so just said 'pick whichever table you like that's ready'..... Other people arrived, also told to sit where they liked - the windows filled first (back of the restaurant felt dark and it gets very loud as there are exposed walls and nothing to soften the noise). This became a problem when people who'd specifically reserved window tables arrived to find their tables hadn't been reserved! Service was slow, felt the staff were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than actually keeping an eye on the service, food was too salty and not particularly hot. Chairs uncomfortable- left with a numb bum and very thirsty!

We were asked for feedback by email afterwards, which we gave in a constructive way (been in the hospitality business a long time), but it wasn't even acknowledged.

I wouldn't recommend it! I wanted to like it because I love Chef Jun....

My favourite lunch spot closed a few years ago (Koffmann's) and we've been desperately (unsuccessfully) searching for something to replace it for when we go to London.

Specifically SOHO or you just fancy a London central, easy to get to place?
My faves are
About Thyme - Wilton St near Victoria
14 Hills, Duck and Waffle or Sushi Samba in City
Jose Tapas, Casse Croute or Cafe Murano - Bermondsey side (also nice moochy little shops and The Vinegar Yard bits and handy for London Bridge)

Oh that's a shame @SleepingisanArt! Have to say all the photos do make it look a bit gloomy...perhaps I won't bother.

Thanks @Mimmi78 will take a look at those. The more central the better really as we're all coming from different parts of the country!

City is underrated at the weekends imho!! Lovely twinkly lights up round Leadenhall, if you fancied a treat cuppa and amazing surroundings Four Seasons at Trinity Square is gorgeous! St Katherine's dock also buzzing with little places and cafes and eateries. There is a lush Tapas there but can't recall the name!
I also rate Lantana near Borough but it's more brunch than dinner!

Had a brilliant lunch at Bibi in Mayfair recently. Modern Indian.

Fallow or Hawksmoor

City is a decent shout, lots of the west end options is usually suggest only do a weekday set menu.

LivelyBlake · 29/11/2023 20:07

This is lovely in Covent Garden although they don't have a set menu https://lillys-cafe.com/

Sucre in Soho, did a set lunch there recently and it was very good. Beautiful dining room too.

How about the wonderful Zedel?

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 29/11/2023 21:08

We went to Zedel a couple of years ago, agree it's fab but we try to go somewhere new each time.

Sucre looks interesting, thank you! Lots of great suggestions.
