Toe pain.. is this a corn? (No photos don’t worry)

For a few months now I have had a painful big toe on the ball/skin underneath. Thought it might be ingrowing toenail but it’s not even near my toenail and it’s not red hot or swollen and I have checked. It feels like I have a piece of grit in my shoe all the time but it’s INSIDE my toe. It hurts to touch it but it’s not infected. Nothing visible like a verruca or callus anything on the surface. I went to private podiatry (£65 for 10 min consult!) earlier this year and they didn’t tell me anything. I think it must be a corn but inside my toe? How do you get rid of the bloody things if they aren’t visible on the surface?

I am miserable, it really hurts, any advice welcome!

Yes, it sounds like a painful interdigital corn. Your best bet is to get it removed properly by a foot health professional or podiatrist. Any amount of corn plasters etc will only make matters worse,so leave alone. You should reasonably get seen for around £40-50 mark, but trust me get it sorted properly. Between the toes is a sweaty, dirty place and these things can easily get infected.

thanks I spent a small fortune to find out it is a chillblain problem, and another small fortune on a load of thermal socks, deep heat, furry boots, witch Hazel etc! Apparently a chillblain ‘probably burst’ inside my toe hence the agony of weight bearing. It was hot and red but I hadn’t noticed as my feet were so cold. I realise now that they are absolutely agonising when I am outside so this is self inflicted through poor footwear and socks

£100 I spent on this. Keep your feet warm folks…
