How can I clean a black mark off this teddy?

I ordered a teddy for my dd for Xmas. When it came it had a black mark on a white area. Could be anything but looks similar to when mascara is transferred onto something. I don't want to return it and would just like to be able to clean it off.

Does any one have any suggestions on how I can do this without ruining the fabric? It's also scented so not sure if that makes a difference to what I can use.

Can you post a picture? Knowing what a mark or stain is is half the battle when it comes to removing it. Try a wet wipe for starters.

If you think it's mascara try make up remover. Use a cotton bud or a wipe.
If it's oil or grease, neat eucalyptus oil should work.
