Hi

Could I ask for gift suggestions for a woman who has left her house due to domestic violence and is now living in a shelter this Christmas?

Really appreciate any responses.

Honestly, I would imagine money is what she really needs - that and a listening ear. Something practical like an Amazon voucher, that she can use for any missing bits in her new home.

A voucher for food/supermarket
A nice bedding set or blanket
Items to make the room feel more homely that she can take when she moves on
Clothing items

Is she alone or with children?

Dressing gown, fleece blanket, thick socks, hot water bottle in cover, Amazon voucher. I escaped DA in the middle of winter and place I landed in was freezing cold.

Sorry, to be clear I am not talking about a particular person.
My daughter and I are putting together a donation.
We will do some children’s stuff but we really want to give the woman some sort of creature comfort/ practical gifts too.

Thank you so much for the suggestions so far.

Some women that go to refuges have nothing but the clothes they are in, when I have visited refuges, I find they get donations of food and toys so I would suggest toiletries and skincare, blankets/ decor for room, slippers/ nightwear, or nice Christmas gifts like tins of biscuits/ chocolates.

A combination of practical stuff and treats as per the list above. A fleecy blanket would be nice too, warm and comforting,

Perfume - something just for her
A nice journal/notebook, to chart her journey away from abuse
Primark voucher so they can get lots for the money

Please ask at the Shelter what they need. Our local one had cupboards full of sanitary products, deodorant, shower gel, nail varnish and chocolate selection boxes.

Dressing gown, slippers and a hot water bottle sound lovely but a donation may be preferable.
