Christmas eve boxes.
First of December presents (must have lost my mind with that one)
This long winded fisherman/mermaid game we have to play every time we get out the bath.
Letting tiny toddler DS walk in shops.

‘’plate presents”..little prettily wrapped gifts on everyone’s plates at Xmas lunch . I have to buy and wrap my own otherwise it would look odd…

They are in the homemade crackers on our table. And all the presents are ‘treasures’ that the grandchildren have found in charity shops.

Horse riding lessons for my four DC. They LOVE them...get so excited. But I could have bought a small island with the money by now and standing in muck while I turn into an ice sculpture is not how I want to spend my Sunday afternoons.

This is why my friend bought a horse. No regrets yet.

Buying a gift for my other child when it's their siblings birthday.
Was fine when they were little and they were happy with a colouring book and pencils.
I now find myself spending £100 on trainers or new hoody for the non-birthday child.

When they grow out of being happy with a colouring book & pencils, they're old enough to be told, no more

tell them they can still have this present on their siblings birthday OR they can have all their presents on their own birthday. I think if the have an opposite season birthday it's not a bad option to essentially split their presents over 2 dates. IYSWIM.

Why do you do this? My parents didn't even do this when my sibling and I were toddlers and we're Irish twins! Just tell them no and to wait for their birthday.

Hosting Christmas. It is enjoyable but getting more expensive every year. I can't completely regret it though as I do like the people I host!
