Comfy shoes for all day standing

ifonly4 · 28/11/2023 14:45

Can anyone recommend some comfy shoes for standing all day at work, we inbetween this we average eight miles walking as well. Needs to be black and I'd prefer a flat or low feel. My feet absolutely kill me at the end of the day.

I found these worked for me

or buy direct from Skechers (same price but additional delivery fee)

FooFighter99 · 28/11/2023 15:53

Anything by Skechers and I can HIGHLY recommend the fleece lined crocs - I got some black ones for my birthday and I flipping love them!

I found that arch support was a game changer. I have rigid ones from Birkenstock, I wear safety boots all day and arch support vastly improves everything

Sketchers

Flavabobble · 28/11/2023 16:40

I regularly do 12 hour shifts on my feet - Skechers are great, especially when alternated with fitflop leather trainers.

Cyclistmumgrandma · 28/11/2023 16:58

Used to wear these when on my feet all day teaching. www.clarks.com/en-gb/un-loop/20312837-p

fitflops or sketchers are both ace

When I worked in a shoe shop, these were the shoes that all the nurses came in to buy - apparently very comfy for being on your feet all day.

Nike Air
Skechers Go Run/Walk

Tracker1234 · 28/11/2023 18:18

I was coming onto to say either Hotter or Ecco shores. Very granny like but very comfortable

Tracker1234 · 28/11/2023 18:20

Topcashback are offering 10% off Ecco too

BearSoFair · 28/11/2023 18:30

Reebok Princess, regularly wore them for 10hr shifts but they're a bit too slippy on the floor in my new job (I don't think it's a problem with the shoe, it's just that kind of floor!) They do run quite narrow which is ideal for me but might not be for everyone.

toomanykittensnow · 28/11/2023 18:57

Anything sketchers. I have similar ones to the first post. I walk 9+miles a day at work, 6 days a week and they have lasted me a year and are still comfy. Other shoes in the past fall apart within weeks.

Blipeuy · 28/11/2023 18:58

Sketchers if being smart isn't crucial, Rocket Dog if you want something fashionable, ECCO or Hotter if you want comfort

LG93 · 28/11/2023 19:20

I swear by these toffeln.shop/products/toffeln-smartsole-trainer?currency=GBP&variant=29102851817552&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=0f7f55a3e0c9&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAvJarBhA1EiwAGgZl0L4qHbU-tg0PCUrcUhKkXrnD1otO0u2yPcA1yYoImHps-iJ2aPdQvxoC99UQAvD_BwE

Or they do a version without laces if preferred which are less trainer like. People often recommend sketchers but I have plantar fascitis and I find them awful, arch/firm support is key for me!

agent765 · 28/11/2023 20:23

I also have PF (caused by standing all day). I find Skechers comfortable initially but Fitflops are the only things I can wear that don't kick off the PF again.

ifonly4 · 29/11/2023 08:41

Thanks for your replies. I do need something slightly smarter for work, but tempted to buy two pairs as I can work to work in one and get away with wearing the them for 2-3 hours, then I can change over to something else.

Podiatrists hate sketchers. Hotter lace ups rule.

LubaLuca · 29/11/2023 08:58

Skechers don't give great support, they're often quite sloppy with no arch support. I have chronic achilles tendonitis and everyone I've ever been treated by has said to avoid Skechers and go for something leather and lace-up.

I like Clarks brogues, but I don't have to walk miles every day. Ecco would be my choice if I was doing a lot of walking.

Trickedbyadoughnut · 29/11/2023 08:58

I have tried trainers, Birkenstock, Skechers, Hotter, ECCO and the best for me personally are the Fitflop Oxfords. The others are alright for walking but don't work for me for a lot of standing around. They're expensive, but I've had two pairs for work for around eight years and they've held up brilliantly. I only wear sandals or boots occasionally but I feel it the next day!

timtam23 · 07/12/2023 19:40

Clarks Funny Dream laceups if you want something a bit retro/quirky. So comfortable.

Halfacnut · 07/12/2023 19:56

I didn't get on with Skechers. Have you looked at Hotter, OP? These are the most comfortable shoes (well, almost shoes - but good enough) I have ever bought: https://www.hotter.com/murmur-boots-black-544 I don't care what they look like: they mean I can walk all day and not notice my feet (which have problems).

HereIAmThereYouAre · 07/12/2023 20:27

Alternatively OP try some good orthotic insoles with arch support/shock absorbing properties etc... like these

LuckyLuckyWoman · 07/12/2023 20:53

fitflop black trainers, best thing I've worn at work and regularly do 30,000 steps a day
