Oh my god what is wrong with my ears?

Posting here for traffic

For nearly a year now I've had ear problems. This started last year with an infection and burst eardrum on the left but had left me with balance problems and weird hearing on the left for months and months.
This then started in my right ear with being unable to hear anything when there has been background noise and a 'clangers' like feedback after high pitched sound. GP says eustachian tube disfunction, but meds haven't worked. Hearing test fine. A consultant used a camera & said enlarged turbinate in nostril on right.
Now for the last 12 hours feeling like I can hear a constant thrum of heavy machinery on my right side.
Its driving me mad!

Any more ideas that might help before I van gogh myself (ear only version!)?

I'm afraid I haven't got any useful advice but I've been having the same issue with the machinery noise!!

At the start of 2020 I had a horrible virus (probably covid in hindsight) which eventually resulted in tinnitus which I've had ever since (a high-pitched ringing). I've had hearing tests, an MRI scan etc and no cause has been found other than slight hearing loss in the upper range, so I've just had to learn to live with it. I've had a few colds and sinus issues recently which makes my tinnitus worse somehow so I was already getting fed up with it, and then all of a sudden 2 weeks ago this mechanical throbbing started in my right ear - I was convinced it was our boiler but my husband said he couldn't hear it! It wasn't constant but would come and go throughout the day, thought I was going insane. It was waking me up in the night and stopping me from being able to concentrate on anything.

Then 2 days ago I woke up and it had just gone! Hopefully it was just a weird side effect of a virus, and I really hope the same happens for you too!

Could it be tinnitus? A couple of friends of mine have it and it’s quite debilitating. (Also causes vertigo for one of them.)

That is exactly what I wanted to hear tabby so thank you (although at this point I would also be grateful for the 'my aunt had that and then she died' type responses cos at least there'd be an end in sight. I did have a covid like virus in September for ages, exactly like when i had covid but I didn't test positive for it this time so maybe that's it.
