Why does 20 degrees outside feel really warm but inside doesn't?

Our living room is supposedly 20 degrees. It's not cold but just ambient. But if it were 20 degrees outside it would feel so much warmer! Why is this? Or am I just imagining it?

Most of the time you spend outside, you're moving or only at rest for a short period. Inside, you're mostly stationary for long periods.

I'm not sure - I think I would happily sit outside in 20 degrees feeling quite warm?

When its 20 degrees outside, it is in the shade. If you're not in the shade, the real feel of the sun on you would be much more.

20 degrees in the shade is a lot cooler than being in direct sunlight.

Yes outside temp is measured in the shade where you'd probably feel cool and need a cardigan on

I was wondering this. DD's room is being decorated and the windows are open. It's 15° in there but feels sub zero.

its like when they tell you the swimming pool temp and i always think it sounds really warm... never is 😀

Aircon is even worse. Someone at work sets it to 20, thinking that it seems like a nice warm temperature - it’s not, it’s Baltic. The only way to beat it is to turn it off, which never goes down well.

I actually think the temperature dial on a/c is all a con. They do one temperature, - cold, there is no in between.
