Having some people over for a cheese and wine evening. Please help me choose what to put on the cheese board! I’m hoping to spend no more than £25 on cheese, crackers and accompaniments for 5 people.

What options do you have in terms of shops? The general rule is hard, soft, blue. Tunworth is a nice soft cheese and not super hard to find.

It will have to be a supermarket .. there is a Tesco, Sainsburys and M&S nearby

Brillat-Savarin is a fabulous triple creme soft cheese.

You might want to do hard, soft, blue, non cows milk and something different e.g. baked or smoked.

Marks & Spencer food stores have good cheese selections as do Waitrose and Ocado.

I’d do a Brie, Stilton, Gouda and Morbier. Some nice grapes, crackers and chutney.

Some supermarkets have offers, can you look online this evening for options. Do you have a Nectar or Club card for their reductions?

I do cheddar, blue cheese, goat cheese and Edam or similar as that suits my family. Plus fruit, apples could be cheaper than grapes/figs etc or if you have dried fruit already use that.

Manchego, strong cheddar, a blue, a soft

I'd do a lovely baked Brie with hot honey, a simple mature cheddar, a creamy blue (Garstang blue), perhaps one of those whipped goats cheese logs that are covered in seasonings, then some sort of flavoured cheese (love a snowdonia cheese over here!).

An apple or two, a bit of fruit cake (amazing with cheddar!), regular cracker assortment (the hovis crackers are a fab extra if you've got the £ in the budget) and a good butter. Perhaps a nice chilli jam and chutney (the Christmas sets are on offer in every supermarket I've been too over the weekend!), some grapes and it'll be smashing! If you can stretch the budget to a small meat selection packet too that'll always goes down well when I do a cheeseboard.
