Hi , I am 34 and 16 weeks pregnant with baby number 4, had a call to say that my screening for DS has came back in the higher category, 1 in 139 chance. Just wondering if anyone else has had this an all been OK? X

I don’t know your medical history but with combined screening the false positive rate is very high - esp. considering your age. That is to say, if nothing unusual was found on your scan then it’s more likely than not that all is ok with your baby.

But you should have an appt with the fetal medicine team soon who can give better advice?

I haven't had a scan just the bloods, baby wasn't lying correctly for the measurements and I was further on than they usually take the measurements at. I have a NIPT test tomorrow. X

Oh so you had the quad test? If so then it’s even less accurate than the combined screening. There’s no guarantees but in your shoes I wouldn’t be overly worried atm. NIPT will give you a much clearer picture though. Hope that helps x

Thank you, I've seen some positive stories on here about people with lower odds than me and the the NIPT being 1 in 10,000 so I'm trying not to focus too much on the 1 in 139 chance ATM x

hi OP, can't remember my numbers but the triple test came back high risk and so i had an amnio and all was fine. Got the results on Christmas Eve.
We'd had an urgent appointment with genetic counsellor and decided to have the amnio as wanted to be prepared as we had an older DC and needed to know if the baby was going to have higher needs so we could plan ahead.
Good luck x
