I was a raver in my late teens/twenties.
When I was at uni there was no internet and we looked things up on microfiche. No one had mobile phones yet except yuppies.
Corporal punishment was no longer practised but wasn't outlawed until I was in secondary school.
The seatbelt in my mum's car was her arm. And I used to travel long journeys asleep lying down in the backseat. It was common for kids to pile into (and fight to) travel in the boot.
Salads were served as individual items on different plates with a bottle of salad cream.
We had no central heating until I was about 11 and in the depths of winter, we all slept in the front room as it was the only room with a gas heater. We used to get a lot of condensation and iced up windows in the winter.
I was in secondary school when we had the big "Michael Fish" storm, which I slept through! My school was closed though as loads of the massive old trees had blown down 😢
We had three channels on the TV (and no remote) until Channel 4 started when I was in primary school.
My mum kept "Mrs" and her married name when my parents split as being a single mum was stigmatised.
