Dummy dipped in liquid malt every time I spat it out.
Given liquid Phenegan to make me sleep every night from 0-5 years.
As a toddler and small child, given huge bowls of currents/sultanas to eat multiple times a day as it was "healthy".

We shared a bath and bath water with our parents and siblings

I was bitten by ladybirds a LOT of ladybirds

Same time as me with the Ladybird, only it's my earliest clear memory aged 3.

When I was a little child, there was always a report about the Vietnam war on the news, and then when I was slightly older, there started to be Vietnamese refugees in my classes at school.

(I remember the news reports, although I was quite little.)

In the car, I stood up in the front passenger seat and Mother would throw her arm out to brace me when she brought the car to a stop.

clopper · 26/11/2023 22:44

Vesta curry, crispy pancakes and and tinned toast toppers were the latest ‘in things’ for food. Meat and two veg were the norm and I never ate rice or pasta as a child. There were 3 channels on the tv and I’m pretty sure they switched off at 10 or 11 each night leaving the famous picture of that girl against a stripy background as the test card. I remember the excitement when smoky bacon crisps came out and we watched the White Horses and Belle and Sebastian programmes on Saturday morning.

Heyhoherewegoagain · 26/11/2023 22:44

I played with clackers which my gran brought us back from Spain

DelphiniumBlue · 26/11/2023 22:46

I had my hair cut in a bob ( like all the other girls I knew) till I was about 5. Neither my brother nor I were allowed to wear trousers to primary school , although we didn’t wear uniform- little boys were only allowed to wear shorts , which were very short.
If we went abroad, we took travellers cheques or changed sterling into foreign currency at the airport.
We walked to and from school without adults from about 5 .

All my friends’ middle names is Louise

Thing with that middle name is you could be a 70s, 80s or 90s child.

My polly pockets and their openable house could actually be put in my pockets.

A lot of my friends at school were called Amy, Rebecca, Rachel and Olivia

Lucytheloose · 26/11/2023 22:52

I had free tuition at University and a grant which was actually possible to live on. Ditto for professional qualification course.

(I remember the news reports, although I was quite little.)

We had Vietnamese "boat children" at our middle school. I wonder if it was the same one?

Anyway my (now other) clue: my brother and I were th first children in our county to get the measles jab.

Got a ruler across my palm in primary school;

Took turns to ride in the car boot as we were a family of 6 with a 5-seater car;

Spam or boil in the bag fish were regular midweek meals.

You were born in the late fifties, like me
