Has anyone bought anything from Habitat recently?

There is a 20% off offer on and I have been looking at the website at a few things I need ie dining chairs, shelving unit or small cupboard and a lamp.

There are lots of nice modern things on there. I haven’t
bought anything for my home for a long time and it needs updating and sorting in general.

I was wondering what people have bought and what the quality is like?

So the bigger ticket items are nice quality- but in terms of furniture everything ‘budget’ is awful in my experience. Not the quality or robustness of ikea, but more expensive.

I like some of habitat stuff. Drinks Glasses...lamps...duvet covers. Theyre ok quality

That’s good to know about the furniture as it does look a bit flimsy but the reviews are mostly good.

I bought a bench to go with my kitchen table a couple of years ago and it’s really good quality.

I got some a chest of drawers for my youngests bedroom about 18 months ago and they fell apart. They were flatpack but I spent hours building them and they were done right, but they fell apart and have been skipped already. Once they started to break there was no saving them.

That said, I like habitat for general interiors, tableware, duvets etc and it’s became my go-to place to look if I need anything for the house.

I bought a £2k sofa and the quality of the upholstery is rubbish. It has buttons on the seats and the fabric tore round the buttons within months of a couple of adults gently sitting on it.
It looks lovely but not good quality at all.

We bought a flat pack kitchen table, bench, and chairs set.

It was mediocre to put together (nowhere near as slick as IKEA), and looks fairly cheap (cheaper than it was) now it's built.

It's also fairly uncomfortable.

I don't HATE it, but it's nothing like old Habitat which felt like affordable-Heals.

I bought some towels, they were expensive and shite.

Oh you’re putting me off now.

I have some lovely dinnerware! Really good quality!

I do think a lot of it looks a bit cheap, we have a large Sainsbury's near us and they stock habitat in there, have a few large furniture displays etc. The odd nice bit of home decor but generally when I browse it I always seem to think it looks ok at a distance but up close I'd say on par with Argos (who Sainsbury's also have some sort of partnership with so presumably it all comes from the same place. Similar also to IKEA I suppose, that kind of quality.

i’ve be got a chesterfield style sofa & lord of f bedding & it’s all been really good quality. Also my fake Xmas tree too & it’s better than the JL one I had that didn’t last long at all.

PickAChew · 26/11/2023 22:15

Nothing like it used be, since it became part of Argos.

Priest's socks, really black ones.

I bought a couch about 5 years ago - it's holding up quite well but I wouldn't call it comfortable so I might re-stuff the cushions.
