Wine bar on my own

Just been the quiet wine bar by mine in my own. And had two glasses of red.

Read magazines, spoke to no one. Done some online Christmas shopping.

I'm going to do this once a month.

I loved it.

I do think it depends where you go but I loved that little two hour sanctuary on my own.

I've been to the cinema on my own but not the theatre or a gig. I've spent one night in a hotel jn my own on my way to a cousin's wedding. My husband would have come but we got a puppy a few weeks before and she was too small really for a dog sitter. I'd like to do that again.

We used to own a holiday let in Cornwall and I'd go myself for a few days including going into a pub for food, would love to do something like that again. But I'm happy in my own company.

I stopped doing this because I would get random men demanding to know what I was doing.

I went to a pub with 2 women the other day. Sat in a corner, minding our own business. We weren't dressed up,nit was a Tuesday night.

A man demanded to know my friend's name. Then another man who was eves dropping, passed comment.

Both got told to get lost.

I went on holiday by myself once. According to the judging and ‘assumptions’ I guess I have should have stayed in my hotel room and ordered room service every night. How ridiculous and you know that no assumptions are made about men..

I used to love going to a bar to read on my own with a glass of wine. It's so relaxing!

I regularly go on holiday on my own. Never a problem. I eat out, go on excursions, spend the evening in bars. I've never had a problem.

No I didn’t have a problem either. But it didn’t occur to me that people would be making ‘assumptions’ as another poster said. Just pointing out how ridiculous that post was.

That post about assumptions reminds me of being a student in the 70s and pub landlords refusing to serve women with pints. 'Not ladylike,' apparently (although oddly a pint served in two half glasses was fine 🙄).That was fifty years ago, though.

Probably the assumptions are based around drinking, by yourself, in the middle of the day, in public. Everyone knows what sort of women do that, don't they?
