Anyone Finding That Christmas Is Sneaking Up On Them?!

Can’t believe it’s only a month away! I work in retail so we’ve had Christmas stuff in store since the end of August but suddenly I’m aware of how close the big day is & how little l’ve done! Life is hectic though as I work plus I’m part time carer for DM & DD14 has a lot of mental health issues. Need to start making lists!

Same! As much as I like to pretend that Christmas doesn’t exist before December 1st in reality both my kids have their birthdays either side of it so i usually start buying presents in July. This year I have almost nothing bought and zero clue.

Dinner is ordered from M&S though so that’s something.

Start reading the what have you done for Christmas today thread.

Good motivator and reminds you of all the tasks for Christmas that you may need to do by breaking it all into manageable chunks.

Totally with you. Its almost like the shops start with it so early that you think - Christmas is ages away - and then the mind set doesn't change.

The supermarkets had Christmas stuff in before the end of school summer holidays.

Yeah well some of us spread the cost and the organisation so they aren't freaking out on Christmas Eve in desparation.

30 days isn't long if you are booked up weekends with Christmas related activities.

All the other seasonal shit - Hallowe'en, Bonfire Night and BF - is now behind us so it's time for retail and hospitality to move on to the next money-grabbing exercise. They wait for no-one!

I’m like it every year, I start in September and start really organised but then all of a sudden it’s 20th December and I’m in a rush!

Yes I get some people want to start buying early but really some biscuits and chocolates on sale in August must be nearly out of date before Christmas.

It's just the same as Easter Eggs hitting the shelfs before New Year. I mean really who's starting buying that early?

TheTecknician · 26/11/2023 08:03

BF = Black Friday.
