Budget is £10 each. Nothing that needs batteries or to be plugged in.

It's hard to be creative but I'm thinking of trying to get a few things for them so it's not just one thing to open. Unknown recipients so want to avoid specific things that might upset them because it's a waste (eg hairclips as they may have short or curly hair; minecraft item as they may not like minecraft etc).

Hand cream
Nice deodorant spray
Lip balm
Chocolate selection box
Pen (but a bit more interesting than a Bic!)
Scarf
Some sort of game like rubix cube or a card game

I only know kids under 12 so I've no idea if these are likely to be OK or get thrown in the corner with an eye roll!

Any other ideas?

Fluffy socks always welcome for both sexes in my house.

ToriTheStoryteller · 25/11/2023 07:28

Ooh that's a good one 😁

I was going to add diary or notebook but I don't know whether kids that age bother with them these days, not like me and my mates did. I'm currently using up the last pages of a garfield notebook for my shopping list, that i was given about 30 years ago, I must have had so many to get through to still have that.😂

No, it’s all on their phones.

ToriTheStoryteller · 25/11/2023 07:41

OK, that's good to know.

Macdonalds voucher?

ToriTheStoryteller · 25/11/2023 07:44

That's quite good because then they could go with their mates. Maybe £5 then a couple of bits to go with it.

Nike sports socks if you can get for less than £10. V popular in white

Beautifulsunflowers · 25/11/2023 07:56

You won’t get a Rubiks cube for under £10!

girl
lip balm, nail varnish, lipstick, costa voucher, gloves, bobble hat, body spray,

boy
beanie hat, costa voucher, sweets, gloves, socks, mini puzzle game, pack of cards,

ToriTheStoryteller · 25/11/2023 08:01

Yes I thought rubix would be a stretch. Maybe a mini puzzle/card game then.

Good ideas here. I'm hoping to get everything today as there might be a couple of things discounted for Black Friday weekend. Even £1 saved on a hat or game is enough to add a bag of buttons or sweets!

Rubik's Cubes are £8 on Amazon. Non branded are £5 or under. DS has several different sorts and uses them all the time. None cost more than a fiver.

I wouldn't buy make-up for a girl. Plenty don't want it and some will be allergic. It's also a matter of taste.

Oxborn · 25/11/2023 08:05

Pack of playing cards my boy loves them

CyberCritical · 25/11/2023 08:14

Primark has had some of their version of Oodies reduced to £5 this week if you can get into a store.

Vettrianofan · 25/11/2023 08:22

I had to buy a gift recently for a 13yo girl as part of a Christmas community project. Bottle of Zara perfume. Under £10.

ToriTheStoryteller · 25/11/2023 08:41

I won't get make-up as it's so subjective. Girliest thing will be a lip balm I think.
McDonalds gift card is a great idea, they could get multiple visits with friends out of that.
I wish we had a Primark. There's not a huge choice in our town but I have some brilliant ideas here so I'm off to make every penny work!
