For the crafty people, how can I easily design a sweatshirt?

Actually, this might not be so easy, it’s my first time ever to try this, but where do I start? I really want to make a Christmas sweater of my own, if I just find a white sweatshirt, then what? What kind of paint do I need to Buy for something like this, or what do you do?

also, can you wash these things or do you have to hand wash it? I’m guessing hand wash, but I’m not sure.

if I want to try putting sequins, is there any special glue I need to know about?

thank you for being patient for the newbie. I’m trying to get more creative and do some things that are out of my comfort zone.

Not sure about paints but I imagine fabric paints will say on whether you can wash the garment after or not. I know there are some where you can.
Sequins would be better to be hand-sewn on I think.

Fabric paints and white sweatshirts from Amazon here. They wash okay in the machine, although we don't wash them much.

You can get iron on stuff where you just print your design out onto the special iron on paper. So you could paint a picture - take a photo and then print it out to iron on, or completly design the whole thing on the computer and print the bits out to cut out and iron on.

Sequins tend to be sewn on rather than glued on - if you want a large patch of them you can get presewn sequin tape that you can glue or sew on after cutting to size.

Thank you for the replies, everyone I haven’t shown anything, ever, so I might go for pre-sewn sequins this time around, but I can get some fabric paint and have a go at this.

for creating a design to print, if I’m using an iPad, is there a specific app you use?

You can use anything to create a design, as long as you can digitise it, so a hand drawing that has been scanned, something with paint or even word.
