Durable black lace up shoes - help!

My 12 year old daughter wears simple black gender neutral lace up shoes to school. They tend to get wrecked after a before the year is our as she walks 40 minutes each way to school. I decided to buy what seemed like better quality ones in September and they have lasted less than three months and the sole has come away from the shoe (clown shoe style). Is there any brand out there I can try? I wonder about DMs but they are £££ and if they don't last it would be even more frustrating. I think her feet may have stopped growing at a 6 so willing to spend a bit more if they last.

the best school shoes I have bought my dc are treads. They have a 12 month indestructible guarantee and last my dc the full school year, I have only replaced when they've outgrown them.

DD2 had to have lace up DMs for school - they have lasted and lasted (6 years and still going strong). She loves them. I think there are a few Black Friday deals on DMs but don't know how good they are.

DMs - i tend to buy them off vinted or Ebay now they are so dear. plenty that have been hardly worn and are as new if you can see a picture of the sole. My DD destroys everything else in a matter of weeks

Kickers are pretty durable.. lasted my daughter the full year last year, walking a mile to school as back

Mirrormeback · 24/11/2023 19:51

I bought my DD school DMs which are soft leather and cheaper

Mirrormeback · 24/11/2023 19:54

Dr Martens are having a Black Griday sale so have a look

If your DD has narrow feet then Office have a great selection

ManorPiggyWig · 24/11/2023 19:56

School shoes go up to 5.5 ggrr as they are cheaper! Will also look at Black Friday offers and Office.

I'm a size 7 and can fit my foot into DD school DMs

PosiePerkinPootleFlump · 24/11/2023 19:59

I thought Treads had gone out of business.
My daughter's Kickers lasted 3.5 years. She also has a 40 min walk each way. Worth the money and I have replaced with another pair.

Allsoles often have offers on DMs. Sign up for emails.

Hers are a 5 and a half

Mirrormeback · 24/11/2023 20:02

Office selection seems to not be as good as it was this time last year

Mirrormeback · 24/11/2023 20:03

The 5 and half will fit a size 6 esp as my DD usually wears a 6 anyway

Mirrormeback · 24/11/2023 20:06

Is she allowed Nike Air force 1

If so imho they are the best footwear for school children especially ones walking to school and back

If they're being driven there and back then it doesn't matter so much

ManorPiggyWig · 24/11/2023 20:32

Her school is rather strict so it is black, non trainers only. Otherwise I would get something better suited to walking up a steep hill! I think I will try the 5.5 DM school shoe as people say it will fit a 6. Thanks!

DMs. Dts also have to walk up steep hill, it's an unmade road too so the shoes get trashed. They lasted y7 and still had a lot of live.

They're y8 now and insisted on loafers, they were not cheap and I am going to have to replace them at Christmas. It'll be dms again.
