How much time and effort to host guests?

I love hosting guests, cooking for them, cleaning to prep and giving myself a good groom to feel my best when I do it. I try to work through a rota of different people me and my fiancée are close to and have someone over once a week for a good meal and lots of drink. This has worked for a good couple of years now bar when we have been on holiday etc and generally gives me a good incentive to eat well all week and is my night off. The only thing is me and my lovely fiancée have very different standards to get ready for hosting and different ideas of what needs doing before guests come. We get on so well and he is always willing to help me with anything I want to do but I wonder if I'm asking too much? We both agree that clean toilets and clean guest beds if people opt to stay are a non negotiable and he generally does those. I think that having people for dinner also means a bit extra though, so nice plates come out, candles lit, chocolates for after dessert or maybe cheese depending on who's arriving, sometimes a card game ( inlaws love this after a few glasses of wine ), sometimes darts with fiancées best man to be. I like to have everything prepped maybe a day before people come so prefer having them on a Saturday night after wfh on a Friday when we can do everything. Fiancée thinks we can relax a bit and a takeaway is fine and it's also fine to let the house be as it is as long as its hoovered and the basics are done. This has only come up as we have guests staying on both a Friday and a Saturday soon ( two different sets of people ) and he has mentioned that he will help me anyway he can but he wants me to enjoy it and not get overwhelmed by hosting two different sets of people back go back. I said I'd post here for ideas on how to hack hosting so if anyone can reccomend how to get ahead of the cleaning, cooking and entertaining and still have a good time please let me know! :) is there any investment I can make, maybe a robo vacuum? I utilise my slow cooker a lot but was thinking of getting Cook meals in etc. Any ideas welcome!
