Car for 3 children

I'm sure this has been done to death and I have searched other threads but thought I'd do another!

I really don't want finance so have saved a good chunk of cash for second hand car. My 11 year old is currently squashed between a 9month old and 7 year old in the back of my astra so back seat space is obviously the priority.

I'd rather not get a 7 seater so if anyone has any recommendations I'd be really grateful.

Citroen xsara Picasso, but they’ve stopped producing them, so not sure how old the newest would be.

The Renault Scenic used to be a good car too, like the Picasso it has 3 full seats in the back, but they’ve stopped production. So I’d have a look at what has replaced both cars.

Peugeot 308. It is a 7 seater but smaller size. With the back seats up you have no boot but Dan put just one up

What kind of price range are you thinking of? One person’s large chunk is way different to someone else’s.

Citroen C5 Aircross. Has 3 full size seats in the back and isn't a 7 seater. Also has a decent boot and is nice inside. Don't get the 1.2 petrol though, it has issues with the wet timing belt.

I would agree MPV is good - something like a Renault Scenic, Citroean C4 Picasso/ Spacetourer or VW Touran- they have three proper seats in the back which stops the bickering over who sits in the middle.

Although they stopped selling the Scenic in I think 2020 there are lots available secondhand. What I like about is the compact dimensions -not much more than a Focus/Astra and slightly higher driving position and also levels of equipment are good. They are reasonably cheap secondhand too. We've had three and have been grateful for the comfort and size of boots.

We tested VW Tourans as well and whilst they did feel a bit more solid than the Scenic they are significantly more expensive.

Ideally below £8k I'm looking to spend (large chunk for me lol no porsches here) It's just a lot to lose if the car is unreliable or space wise no bigger than my astra in the back. I've heard Picassos are a nightmare for breaking or noleddding work which I definitely don't want!

I've next to no time to view anything with 3 kids and the husband working constantly so I wanted to narrow it down. I did like qashqais but they just seem no wider in the back so felt it was pointless. There are some good suggestions on here though so thankyou, somebody also told me ford c-max had 3 individual seats but looking at them I'm not sure - so if anyone has a c-max let me know.
