Ideas to make it a nice Christmas morning

Does anyone have any ideas as I feel a bit down in the dumps for Christmas this year?

My older children will be at their dads this year, my husband is working xmas eve night and won’t be home until about 10.30am. So in the morning (most magical time!) it was just be me and my 6yo DD. We’re quite used to it being just us, but I’m feeling really disappointed, no hosting, no gaggle of kids around me, no husband to share it with.

I know I’m very lucky really and so I’m trying to reframe it, but I can’t seem to think of how to make it magic and special just the 2 of us. I’m sad DH has to miss the magic Santa bit in the morning and he will be tired from work so although will be there it’s not the same.

I would like to make it feel nice and not like we’re waiting for others to make it happy IYKWIM.

If anyone has any ideas I’d be really grateful.

We make Santa pancakes, large crepe type ones with chopped strawberries for the hat, squirty cream for the trim and beard and blueberries for the eyes.

could you enjoy those while opening a couple of select few presents and watching muppets Xmas carol while you wait for dh to get home for the big Santa stuff?

@QforCucumber thats a great idea thank you! It’s usually me and the children who do baking together so that would be a fun thing to do that’s just for us.

I am trying to think of a way to do some presents, as don’t think it’s fair to make her wait and also not fair for her daddy to miss all the magic!
