WWYD - Hand, foot and mouth - party

Hi

So youngest DS (9m) has started with what I think might be hand, foot and mouth. Rash around his mouth that’s starting to look a bit like blisters since yesterday (I initially thought it was just teething rash which he constantly has at the moment) and today he possibly has some very small, faint spots on his hands. He’s been completely well this week, no high temperature, eating and drinking as normal.

The problem is oldest DS has his birthday party on Sunday. He’s not showing any symptoms at all at the moment.

What would you do about the party? Would
you cancel? We have the option to leave youngest with grandparents so would you just not take him? Would you let the parents know that younger sibling has HFM but won’t be at the party and let them decide?

Obviously if oldest DS starts with symptoms we’ll cancel the party but as he is well at the moment I’m unsure what to do. Advice please.

Generally, being honest with everyone is the best policy.

But mainly came to say that I thought, from the title, that you were thinking of having a Hand, Foot and Mouth party - like some people do for Chickenpox.... and that would be horrific!

@flipent ooops probably should’ve worded the title a bit better! 🙈
