Is it too soon to go for a new job?

I’ve been thinking about leaving my current role for a long time now (years) as despite having it quite good in terms of flexible working, autonomy and a lovely team to work in, I don’t like the way we work, it’s extremely stressful and we get paid very low for the work we do (public sector) and I’m ready for a change.

Then I had my baby and she’s now a year and a half. I’ve been getting constantly ill since she’s been at nursery with colds and my current work have been very understanding.

Ive got an interview somewhere else, and it’s paying up to £15k more which I could massively do with for our family and our future. Says they’re flexible and it’s 50% WFH and 50% in the office.

i want to go for it but friends of mine are saying maybe it’s too soon with a young one and the stress of a new role, making new relationships, the bugs she/I have been picking up and how understanding my work is. Now im nervous and wondering if I shouldn’t leave.

Should I stay put or go for it and see what happens?

Go for it! You’ll always wonder what might have been, if not - and if you get offered the job you could use it as a bargaining chip if you decide you don’t want to move after all. Good luck!

I don't think so. I went into a new role straight after mat leave and it was fine.
