So a few months ago I woke up and had a wound on my stomach it was black and leaking pus . So I call 111 and they told me to get to the hospital for a review a taxi would take an hour and half which I was fine with . The buses in my area are only very 2 hours . Anyway half an hour later I rang back and was on the floor doubles over it was extreme agony , worse than my c sections .

All I can remember is waking up in resus asking me to sign the paper as I needed to go to theatre . I woke up in ICU , I spent over a month and half in hospital had to have physio to help me walk and i’m on strong painkillers

Now I know I had necrotizing facitus and sepsis , my abdomen is very disfigured and I will have the reconstructive surgery.

I joined a facebook support group for survivors of NF but wondered if anyone here has experience of NF / sepsis

My uncle died after contracting it.

DH's friend's father lost a leg after contracting it.

It's so deadly OP. I would imagine it'll take years to come to terms with what has hall to you.

thank you ! yes I’m very “lucky” . Avery weak from being in hospital for so long but I have come out of hospital with all my limbs and again lucky that the infection didn’t go to my organs . It has changed my whole outlook on life . My family and friends have and are so amazing . I’m moving closer to my family as I’m really struggling and live rural , it’s lucky i’m in social housing and will be able to find a “swap”

next year I will go back for the reconstruction on my stomach I need it for me but also dreading it as my experience has been so scary that I worry every time I go to the hospital ( twice a week currently until my vac pump comes off )

sorry for the long post I just needed an outlet
