Two week urgent suspected cancer referral

Hi all,

I'm a young mom to a toddler with additional needs. I've just been referred for an urgent two week cancer referral to my hospital.

I have a 2cm lump on my lymph node in my groin, and the GP also thinks she felt one on my neck.

Other symptoms is just generally feeling unwell and extreme tiredness.

I'm getting my bloods done on Friday ready for my next appointment but then it'll just be the dreaded two week wait.

Really panicking as I already have quite bad health anxiety, and I just imagine not being here to take care of my little boy 😔

Anyone else been through this and ended up okay? It's the anticipation of it all that's the worst

I recently went through something similar, I had suspected lung cancer and had tests over two weeks. I too have a child with SEN and one who struggles with mental health. It’s so scary. I’m totally fine, I have a minor condition that they have found needs monitoring yearly and have slight anaemia.
So many symptoms overlap, it could well be nothing. Avoid Google and distract as much as you can. Best of luck OP, I hope it’s nothing.

The vast majority of 2WW referrals come to nothing so the odds are in your favour.

You could easily be tired from a virus that has brought your glands up.

Be prepared for it to be more than a 2WW as lots of departments are running slow at the moment.

I recently went through this with growing lymph node on my neck over 2 mths, extreme tiredness, etc but all turned out ok. I had quick referral for ent and scams etc, was really impressed with turn around. My lymph nodes have started to get smaller but I've check up again and more bloods for root cause and tiredness, run down etc.
It's not always bad news do please try to stay positive

Sorry OP, you must be worried. The wait is torture.

I too am parent carer of an SEN child (severe) and went to see my GP nearly 2 weeks ago about a very hard, weird lump I've found in my abdomen near my hip. I've heard nothing about a referral for a scan nor blood tests. Guess they're happy for me to pop my clogs if it's sinister! 🤷‍♀️

Thanks all. Got my first appointment at the hospital on Wednesday, wasn't expecting it to be so quick.
