Put on the pill for menopause bleeding but I'm irritable and not myself

I was losing so much blood that it made me faint so the hospital put me on the pill to control the bleeding (I'm menopausal and never needed to worry about contraception before)
However since I've been taking the pill I've been irritable, angry, no patience and just generally not feeling like me 50% of the time.
I've only been on it 3/4 weeks.

Can I just come off it? Is this a normal experience and will I get back to my normal self?

I don't know what to do but I feel miserable.

Maybe get this put in menopause section.
How old are you? I know pill can be used to control bleeding but wonder what other options are. HRT?
Someone with more knowledge will hopefully come along shortly...

I've posted on this thread in the hope of more traffic.

I can't go on HRT because I have the blood clotting gene.

I just want something to help my moods

I thought the pill and hrt similar round clotting risk? However, I am not medical so no real clue.
If you are bleeding so much I hope investigations are being made into why as that would direct treatment I would think. Good luck.

Is it the mini pill (progesterone only) one that you've been put on? Women at risk of a clot can take it because it doesn't contain oestrogen, which is what causes the increased risk of a clot in the combined pillI.

I felt like you did on and off the mini pill for the first few months of taking it but eventually it settled down and aside from some occasional break through bleeding/spotting, I'm not having periods on it anymore (taking it for birth control reasons) .

Do still get the occasional day or 2 like you describe but nothing like what I was having before my periods before taking the pill.
