YA 'Red Eye' books

Anyone familiar with these and whether they might be a good pick for a 14 year old boy? He used to be a real bookworm when he was younger but has struggled to find books that engage him in the last couple of years. Always been into more 'exciting' thriller/horror type plots and these look promising but I can't find much info about how young/old they're really aimed at! Looking at Whiteout and Fir in particular.

my elder DD was into these a few years ago, probably aged around 13-14. I'll ask her for some reviews when she gets in.

ok, just asked her. Regarding age suitability, she said that "they're not very child friendly, but also not very good. Maybe 13?". Apparently Sleepless was the best of those she read.
