Looks like ringworm - not a worm, a fungal infection, needs an antifungal cream.

MyDogSmellsTerrible · 22/11/2023 10:49

I get that a lot. It's a form of eczema. Steroid cream should clear it up.

Lottie4 · 22/11/2023 10:50

I suspect it's roundworm. Go to the pharmacist and they will advise whether you need roundworm treatment or something for eczema.

MrsClausno27 · 22/11/2023 10:50

Ringworm??? EnvyEnvy (feeling sick)

I've never had eczema in my life!!!!

SaffronSpice · 22/11/2023 10:51

Agree, ringworm. The pharmacist gave my DC canesten cream to treat it (same stuff as used for thrush)

SaffronSpice · 22/11/2023 10:52

Ringworm isn’t eczema, it is a fungal infection.

minipie · 22/11/2023 10:52

Ringworm is not a worm!!

(Roundworm is but those are in your gut not your skin and fairly rare for humans to get them)

MrsClausno27 · 22/11/2023 10:54

How did I get ringworm ?? 😭

OP posts:
RudsyFarmer · 22/11/2023 10:55

I don’t think I knew that ringworm is not a worm!!!!!!

PinkflowersWhiteBerries · 22/11/2023 10:56

Were you working in the garden, picking up leaves for example? Ringworm is easily caught from soil etc, as I understand it.

It may be a different fungal infection, but go show it to the chemist. They will help.

Eyesopenwideawake · 22/11/2023 10:57

Ringworm. Get it treated ASAP, I once ignored it and ended up on meds and creams for a month.

I think you mean ringworm?

MrsClausno27 · 22/11/2023 10:58

No I've not been working in the garden or anything ! I've been clearing out the loft, could that have done it ??

I feel creeped out

OP posts:
SaffronSpice · 22/11/2023 10:58

You can also pick it up from animals - cats, dogs, horses. Or other people with it eg sharing towels (so keep yours separate for now)

It is very common.

Elastica23 · 22/11/2023 10:59

I would ask the pharmacist to have a look rather than asking on here.

Papillon23 · 22/11/2023 10:59

I think it looks like ringworm too. Definitely act immediately. I've had it before and it's been a nightmare to get rid of.

MrsClausno27 · 22/11/2023 10:59

Running to the pharmacy 😭

OP posts:
Wanttobeok · 22/11/2023 10:59

I got it from my cat. Horrible but easily treated

mushforbrain · 22/11/2023 11:00

I think you need to calm down and head over to the pharmacy or GP.

How did I get ringworm ?? 😭

It’s not a worm, there’s no need to be so freaked out by it. It’s very contagious, so you could’ve caught it from sharing towels with someone who has it, or something like swimming floats, or bedsheets.

Hot wash any shared items and stop sharing. Use an antifungal cream on the rash, like lamasil or canesten, as directed on the tube or by your pharmacist. You don’t need to see a GP, your pharmacist will be able to advise. If the pharmacist advice and treatment doesn’t help then see your GP.

Rosecutting · 22/11/2023 11:03

Looks like ringworm
Sounds worse than it is.
Fungal infection. Anti fungal cream will sort it
A trip the the pharmacist

MrsClausno27 · 22/11/2023 11:42

I just remembered I had overnight guest over and we could have possibly used the same hand towel (even though they did have separate ones)

They didn't have ringworm tho !! Not that I noticed ..

OP posts:
minipie · 22/11/2023 12:39

Honestly OP there are loads of ways you could have caught it, unless you never leave the house. Don’t fret about that and just get the treatment.

gamerchick · 22/11/2023 12:44

Don't bother trying to find out where you got it from OP. Cats can pass it on though. It's nothing, go and get some cream from the chemist.

FictionalCharacter · 22/11/2023 12:50

There is absolutely no need to be horrified. It’s just a fungal infection of the skin and is easily treated. It doesn’t mean you’re dirty or anything like that.
