Hiya
Can anyone recommend a good carry on bag that fits the carry on spec for Ryanair and easyJet, it has to fit under the seat in front, the bag that you get as part of the standard fare, TIA

Have a look on Amazon- we just got some really nice rucksacks from there but I don’t have the link as DH bought them. There are loads with the right dimensions

Seeingadistance · 21/11/2023 21:12

I have a Cabin Max backpack which is exactly the right dimensions for EasyJet. I think the free cabin allowance for Ryanair is much smaller, but they do that one too.

I’m holiday with it just now! Link is Spanish, I think, but iPad is playing up so will go with this.

One of the things I really like are the big zip pockets on the front. I put a book, iPad etc, everything I need for the flight, in a small bag in there which I take out when I get on the plane so I can put the bigger bag away - usually in the overhead locker. Similarly, all the liquids, electronics which have to come out for security can be stored in there so don’t have to open up everything.

Home Bargains sell rucksacks for £9.99. I ts not the correct dimensions but I don't - always fill it completely and just fold it if needs be. I've travelled on both EJ and RA and never been asked RE size, it's definitely been double the allowed size at times.

I've got the cabinmax manhattan. It's Ryanair's maximum under seat measurements.

Talipesmum · 21/11/2023 21:58

I recently got this one - it expands so it can fit both Ryanair and easyjet. It’s a great size and while I also took a hold bag, this one was a great beach bag when on holiday, then it was my cabin bag for travel. Also works for a weekend away.

I’d recommend getting a backpack. We got a cheap hold-all from Amazon but if you pack quite a lot in it it will be heavy to carry around the airport/when you’re queuing for passport control etc. so a backpack would be much better

Edited

Unfortunately this is too big for Ryanair.

tiredandolderthanithought · 21/11/2023 22:06

@Seeingadistance sorry just seen you've said it comes in a smaller size

OhNaffOffYouWazzock · 21/11/2023 22:13

The CabinMax bags are great. We have several in different sizes and they're decent quality and useful.

nikkiandham · 21/11/2023 22:16

I got a Cabinmax Manhattan too - so clever, all the pockets are very useful.

LeakyPipes · 21/11/2023 23:55

I got this one. It's perfect!

I've used this one on Ryanair for a few short trips without any problems.
Holds a fair amount and isn't super flimsy.
Not terribly stylish but a bit more so than the one I'd used previously - this boot bag (now out of stock apparently) from Decathlon

They are so naughty on Amazon, the pictures show the bigger one. I've got a 40x20x25 and it's tiny! It's only a bit bigger than a ruler so never goes right up your back like the pictures show!

FarEast · 22/11/2023 09:10

which I take out when I get on the plane so I can put the bigger bag away - usually in the overhead locker.

The whole point of the new pricing model is that the "free" bag does NOT go in the overhead locker @Seeingadistance

I'm sick of forking out to pay for a small cabin bag that goes in the overhead locker, to find there's no space because wankers have put their under-the-seat bags up there.

Elastica23 · 22/11/2023 09:50

I just take my handbag - big enough to fit a small-ish laptop in, basically.

It's not this one but is a bit similar. Fits everything I need in for travel. Mine has three compartments including a middle zipped one, and an inside zipped pocket. Much easier to find things in than rummaging around in a rucksack.

This. Every time. I have the Jennie large oyster-coloured bag and I just love it. The quality is superb. I do not work for the company.

If there is no space in the overhead locker it goes under the seat. I make that judgement myself - I always am among the last to board so I can see how much space there is. And I have seen others being asked to take the smaller bags out the overhead locker to put under the seat.

I do get how annoying it must be not to have space when you’ve paid, and I aim not to be a piss-taker.

I travel a fair bit on EJ and RA and loads of people do this. Last time a man brought a massive carry on, it was a proper large suitcase and was trying to lug it up into the overhead locker. A stewardess rushed over, and I thought she was going to penalize him. Instead she very kindly offered to put it in the hold for him. They don't care, it's not a case that there isn't room, it's because they aren't monitoring what people are bringing on board.

Oh yes, I didn't know they had different sizes. I've used the 40x20x25 for a 3 day trip to Paris in the summer, which was fine. And for a 5 day trip to the UK, which was also fine but only because it was to visit family so I could borrow a few bits when I got there!

Yoloohno · 22/11/2023 19:31

I have the Jennie bag in black and it’s such a versatile bag. Looks like a handbag but has extra bags and pockets.

I regularly use it as an overnight bag at home but for a weekend away it will stash toiletries, straighteners, sandals, underwear and a couple of lightweight outfits.

mone must be 3/4 years old and still looks brand new.

TheThingIsYeah · 22/11/2023 19:31

If the "under seat" bag isn't big enough and you don't want to pay Ryanair a daft £25 e/w for a 10kg case, just put some stuff in a duty free bag.

Edited to say the Cabinmax Manhattan bags are very good!

SecondUsername4me · 22/11/2023 19:36

We have these fugly things from Decathlon. Exact Ryanair dimensions, cheap, and pack away to nothing when empty.
