Thanksgiving hostess gift

Teenage DD has been invited to a Thanksgiving meal with an American friend. I was wondering what sort of thing would be appropriate for her to bring as a gift for the host family.

In the US or the UK? In my part of the US (I’m in the south) alcohol related gifts can be hit and miss if you don’t know how religious or conservative the host is.

A box of chocolates, some flowers or a houseplant or a nice holiday scented candle always seems to go down well and is relatively safe!

UK, so I've gone for some locally-made fancy Christmas-spiced shortbread in a pretty tin.

That will be perfect.

Lovely biscuits are perfect. There is no traditional sort of gift for a Thanksgiving dinner, but some sort of token contribution to the food (biscuits!) or something tasteful for the hosts wouldn’t go amiss.

Sounds great. Foodie gifts are always a good bet!
