Deal or No Deal is back! And…

…it’s still as cringey and woo as it was when Noel presented it.

I used to love it at first when it was first on TV. But the whole ‘think blue!’, people holding hands and chanting and the “I’m wishing for this to be a blue for you Sharon” - all while a fairly mediocre human behaved like they deserved loads of money despite showing very few redeemable qualities - made me turn off. I got to the point where I grumpily hoped they’d end up with a tenner, and it used to drive me nuts when the contestants or Noel would actually tell someone off for having a red in their box, like they had any hand in the decision rather than just randomness 😂 Also hated the “I’m praying this is a blue for you” - why? It won’t change what’s in the box. Just fucking open it.

So I hoped with a new presenter (and lower prize offers!) and a new era they’d have stopped that nonsense. They haven’t. In fact they’ve added a new element to this season’s show - pretending that there actually IS a banker giving his money away. The contestant yesterday was all “hahaha the banker will be furious he has to give me more of his money”. No love - it’s a producer on the phone. The ‘banker’ also told Stephen mulhern “I’ve just been decorating my 10 living rooms” and the contestant looked genuinely annoyed and said “alright for some” or something. I can’t watch this drivel - am I alone?

Really it could be a 10 minute show, or a 30 minutes show with 3 contestants on the bounce.

I remember seeing how Question of Sport was made and it was similar . They kept repeating questions and answers and even jokes if they weren't happy .Watching the programme seems all natural and fluid answers - not so !
That was many years ago, and I've never watched the programme since .

SweetdustSideEye · 29/11/2023 03:59

It's so cringe. I can't cope with it. The episode with the young looking granny with dungarees is too much for me. All holding hands and praying. Omfg. She keeps saying affirmations like they mean something. It just drags on sooooo much... I just cannot.

TrishIsMySpiritAnimal · 29/11/2023 16:18

Its unbearable. I don’t care when your parents wedding anniversary is just open the fucking box

Speaking of Tipping Point, as some of you were, my favourite moment was when the question was : "In the bible, who danced the Dance of the Seven Veils?" Contestant: "Jesus!"
It still makes me laugh. They truly are the thickest contestants on that show.

C1N1C · 29/11/2023 16:47

Is Meghan Markle on it? She seems a bit strapped for cash recently 🤣

TheActualDuck · 29/11/2023 16:59

I'm actually very cross Saint Ben of Tipping Point has been replaced by that DOND drivel, it's put me right out.

I've been watching it and it's quite boring because it just seems like everyone's being really safe which I get with the COL but still, dosrnt make good tv

MadCatLady27 · 30/11/2023 22:37

I wish they'd just open the damn box and get on with it

The guy on today's show, wow

I on,y caught the end why did he turn down such a big amount? Or the £1600

I have no idea! I'd have been out of there with the 9(?) Nevermind the 12! I was so shocked he turned it down especially as he said he was skint

It didn't help everyone was egging him on to continue and he was set in his belief to play to the end

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 30/11/2023 23:01

Deal or Noels Deal 🤣

Apart from that gem I find it concerning how woo is seen to be more reliable than statistics by the people playing.

If (and ii never will) I was on I would always deal above 7500 as that is just too much to turn down. Even if I did have a red amount.

he was crying at the end but why he turned down the 1600 when he had 3 boxes who knows that is still a fair a,mount

I'd probably even be tempted from 3k! Can't believe he turned it down, as they've said to some people you'll regret it more if you turn it down and have a blue.

Wonder if anyone has ever had only the big 4 numbers left

Quartz2208 · 01/12/2023 19:22

That is why today irritated me when he got 24600 and made it sound as if he had somehow lost because his box was 75000.

no he won nearly 25k I would be estastic with that

Quartz2208 · 01/12/2023 20:16

Turns out he had motor neurone disease and there is now a go fund me

Agree and they almost made him feel gutted he'd dealt, I'd rather have dealt at 24k than ended up with 750. I'd regret that way more

Brad's friend has set up a go fund me so he can get his bucket list and has 30k in donations.... Surely if he wanted it that much he should have dealt?

Quartz2208 · 03/12/2023 10:39

I think his mum told him to keep ongoing as well

but yes the 24k man definitely won

MadCatLady27 · 05/12/2023 19:23

Today's game, oh dear. Should have dealt (again)

Quartz2208 · 05/12/2023 23:07

I find Stephen Mulhern encourages the no deal though as do the crowd when it really would be sensible to deal. Was glad the day before she dealt as she had 1p in her box

also though the banker doesn’t offer the swap anymore

Quartz2208 · 07/12/2023 17:03

And again 8600 should have totally dealt then.

still blame Stephen Mulhern and the rest - except for Joseph he see,s sensible

MadCatLady27 · 07/12/2023 18:56

So so stupid to not deal at 8400 what is wrong with these people?? 2 of the 3 boxes were way lower so why wouldn't you deal?

We've had way way more games fall apart and people regret not dealing than regretting dealing. Only the girl yesterday and the truck driver have had better in their boxes

It doesn't help everyone egging them on to not deal. Even Stephen Mulhern doesn't help because his aim is to obviously have more exciting tv

Agree Joseph offers great advice, it'll be interesting to see what happens when he plays

MadCatLady27 · 08/12/2023 19:45

And another one!!

Needmoresleep89 · 08/12/2023 19:49

@SheIsStuck23 when I went they gave us bacon sandwiches and tea, sorry 🤣 the rest sounds about the same though!

Quartz2208 · 13/12/2023 17:46

Joseph was interesting - dealt than had a large amount. Still got a fair whack so don’t feel too sorry!
