DD and I itchy scalps!

DD (6) and I have incredibly itchy scalps. I’ve checked her extensively and made DH check me and couldn’t find any bits but treated us all in just case. My kids have incredibly thick hair so the treatment and combing was a bloody nightmare but we did it 3 days ago.

It’s made no difference- both still soo itchy. Again can’t see nits- would you treat again? Try a medicated shampoo for itchy scalps? Not sure which direction to go in now. Any tips or recommendations for lice treatment? We used lyclear but it was a nightmare as you put it on dry hair (maybe you do for them all) and then trying to nit comb it was so hard!

You can see nits they aren’t that small.

Try medicated shampoo -

The buy some tea tree oil and add it to her conditioner - it keeps lice away.

Don’t keep over using lice treatments when you aren’t sure you even have them.

Get a lice comb tip your head over some white paper and see if any come out. Trust me they do! If you can’t see any when combing your daughters hair then you don’t have them. Maybe your scalps just irritated?

Nitty gritty comb is good if you can spare the time, no chemicals and it pulls out the nuts and eggs so you can see them.

low iron can cause hair to feel itchy and fall out.

My DD6 has as incredibly itchy scalp. She suffered quite a lot with cradle cap when she was younger, and that's only just gone in the last year or so, but since then always has an itchy head.
I've 4 other DC so well used to checking for headlice and it's definitely not that.
I started with a shampo for sensitive scalps and it took a few washes before the itching did calm down. I have also reduced the amount of conditioner and only try to use every other wash. We are abroad though so can't recommend the shampoo we use as it's a Spanish one.

Thanks all I’ll try a new shampoo. Nits have been going round school and as we both starting itching at the same time I assumed that was the most likely culprit!

Even the thought of nits make my scalp itchy!

I have a dry scalp and the Body Shop ginger shampoo is great.

If its not lice, I found using a good quality soap bar made from rice water reduced itchiness and dead skin build up on the scalp.
