I'm aware it's more diet than exercise

I do 12.5 shifts 3 times a week on feet, so a good 12000 steps a day. But my eating is shocking, I just don't know what to eat anymore especially on long shifts, then end up eating takeaways 3 times a week! Help completely lost my way with food. I do have a food sensory issue, veg I eat is: potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions, mushrooms, cucumber, broccoli. Fruit is only apple and strawberries!

Google intermittent fasting - it works .. and keeps the weight off .. if you can pack food and water/ other drinks during your long shifts you will be fine .. I lost 6 dress sizes and have kept it off .. I had lost a bit more but that wasn't sustainable .. I avoid sugar too -- no desserts but sugar in fruit is fine: names that will help you on YouTube and podcasts and insta are : Dr Mark Hyman, Dr Jason Fung, Liz Earle..

agree 100%... worked for me too... took my body 2-3 weeks to adapt and now easy to eat in only a 1-9 hour window depending on what I decide...

Thank you both!

There is no need whatsoever for intermittent fasting but mumsnet loves a fad.

OP plan out your meals consisting of meats, fish, veg, nuts, fruit and a small amounts of pasta, potatoes or rice. Try to limit processed meals and snacks, fizzy drinks and alcohol as much as possible.

Rather than paying attention to steps which are pretty crap for weight loss try and get involved with some HIIT training (Google it if you are not sure)

The best advice is do not overcomplicate something that is in essence very simple.

It's definitely not a fad .. reflects more the way we would have eaten before the three meals a day set modern regimen.
I was overweight from childhood and it's the only thing that has worked ... now been 7 years . And didn't cost me a penny.
