Think I have shingles

I have an itchy rash on just one side of my neck, no reason for it such as a new necklace or different washing powder. I don't feel great, absolutely zero energy. Do I need to see a Dr?

It's maybe too late if you've already got the rash. I don't think you have to see the doc but you may want a sick note for work.

It's horrid. Makes you feel rubbish and is maybe a sign that you're run down. I've had it twice. Both in October/November. I don't think the weather helps. Get well soon.

Yes because if it is shingles you need to start immediately on anti virals which will lesson pain and duration of shingles.

If you can't get a Drs appointment straight away, my son's shingles was diagnosed by a pharmacist at our local supermarket- might be worth getting one to have a look and see?

So funny you say that, I've got a compromised immune system and I've had shingles 4 times and every time it's the end of November and first week of December. I'm hoping I don't get it this, I've got post shingles pain where every now and then the place I always get the shingles give a little electric itch and it feels like I want to grate the skin off my back. I hate it, it means I get The Dread for a few days and I end up saying silent prayers to jeebus to keep me shingles free. He clearly must be busy at the end of November though 😂❤️

I had shingles in 2019, as soon as I noticed the rash I got anti viral meds and it didn't blister and I got better quite quickly.

@glglassyhag definite sign that you were destined to live in warmer climes I'd say!

Stumpedasatree · 20/11/2023 12:24

@glassyhag is there anything you have found to help relieve the post-shingles itch? Someone I know gets it very badly and is at a loss - antihistamine doesn't help at all.
