Looking at getting one of these as a present, but wondering if the recipient will curse me if it means there will just be bird poo constantly on the window sill/window/floor??

We have one and that has not been a problem.
We get blue tits and coal tits daily.

Thesearmsofmine · 19/11/2023 21:24

We never had that problem. We got loads of lovely visitors until a window cleaners broke ours 🙄

We had one but it was on the kitchen window which was too busy and the birds didn’t often come, so better if it can be located in a room without humans standing in front of the window all the time.

That’s good to hear! What makes do people have? Have seen anything from a simple suction thing, to a side by side and video camera one

Don't do what I did and put one on a full length glass door and use meal worms.
Total slug fest

I've got a simple suction one.

I bought my dh one for his birthday and have never had an issue with poo on the window as they never use it! So annoying :(

How long has it been up?

I bought one for my dad last Christmas, took about 5/6 months and then they were lining up!

@PurpleSproutingSomething since February! I've put it in several places for many weeks at a time and they just don't like it. It's currently on my shed window slightly hidden under the branches of a cherry tree just in case they want to feel a bit less exposed. We first put it on his cabin office window near where we have bird feeding tables, which they use, and they ignored it. Maybe I need to put in mealworms or something special.

PurpleSproutingSomething · 19/11/2023 23:21

@longtompot my dad puts out a selection of meal worms, sunflower hearts and grass seeds.

I bought one for my cat's entertainment. The birds loved it, and I don't recall seeing much bird poo on the window ledge. What also loved the feeder was bush mice/rats (I couldn't quite work out what type they were). At night, the feeder was absolutely raided by battalions of rats, so to the disappointment of the cat, I eventually removed the feeder.
