Is this Covid?

I'm feeling like absolute shit and can't get out of the house to get a test

I have : cough, mouth ulcers, sore throat, headache, fever, runny nowe, congestion, fatigue, muscle pain, diarrhoea

I feel like death I could cry. Alone with two small children.

Does this sound like Covid? Anyone suffering the same or have any tips to help a fast recovery please? 🤧

No-one can tell you if it's COVID or not as there are always loads of viruses at this time of year.
Just try & rest (!), drink plenty of fluids & take paracetamol. I a way it makes no difference if it's COVID or not, the same applies to any illness.

NotFastButFurious · 18/11/2023 19:36

Could be, might not be! Fluids, plain foods, paracetamol and rest!

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 18/11/2023 19:41

Yes, it could well be.

Even with public testing largely dismantled, there is surveillance testing, and we are in a wave. That means it's likely to be covid - and there have been quite a lot of threads about the horrid bug that is going round

Main thing for any infection which could be covid is to rest. Trying to push through is counterproductive.

And do your utmost to avoid contact with other people. This version seems to be making people really quite unwell for a week or more, and no-one wants to catch it.

I had a lot of those symptoms a few weeks ago . Head banging for days , no energy , snotty, mild cough /temperature . I tested positive . A week later my Ds had similar symptoms tested negative but has been off college all week .

paulhollywoodshairgel · 18/11/2023 19:50

You can get packs of tests from Amazon? I had covid end of September and had a lot of the same symptoms as you. Feel better soon Flowers

brokenbitbybit · 18/11/2023 19:51

Thanks for the advice. I know no one can tell me if it is or not but I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself.

Ordered some tests and medicines from Amazon prime. Really feel for anyone suffering with the same, it's horrific!

Nobody can tell you that, since covid presents pretty similar to any other cold or flu virus with just as many variations depending on the person.

Both myself and DH had covid a couple of months ago - mine was like a typical head cold with no cough. His presented as an afternoon of feeling tired and feverish, followed by an intermittent cough for a few days. There are no fixed symptoms.

brokenbitbybit · 18/11/2023 19:53

Feels like a waste of time eating as I can't taste anything!

Can't smell either. I changed my youngest nappy and she'd had a 💩 and I hadn't even realised 😭

Oh no- lost smell probably gives you the answer without testing !

Daz2424 · 19/11/2023 16:01

Sounds like it is covid..
This variant going around is definitely giving every symptom you mention.
I'm 6 weeks on from catching it and had all of your symptoms.

CormorantStrikesBack · 19/11/2023 16:03

I’m the same but no mouth ulcers. Swab was negative for covid this morning. I feel dreadful but guess it’s just a bad cold.

captaincalamari12 · 19/11/2023 16:04

I'm exactly the same, including mouth ulcers and mine was covid.

ShowOfHands · 19/11/2023 16:06

I've had exactly the same symptoms recently, as did DH. Complete loss of smell and taste. Both have to test for work. Both negative.

MariaLuna · 19/11/2023 16:09

Really? What the fuck is wrong with you. Except that creep getting richer....

MikMak · 23/11/2023 15:15

Just tested positive. Mine is presenting as a heavy cold, no cough this time but actually feel worse than with previous cough type version (coughing so hard i nearly peed myself last year). Three days in bed with sweats, chills, banging head, aching body and eyes and runny nose. Insomnia. Slight tongue ulcer and losing smell on day 3 made me test and line immediately appeared. I think there must be loads of people thinking they have a bad cold at the moment, whereas it's actually covid. It's the illest I've been in from a virus in about 15 years, but definitely turning a corner already.

MikMak · 23/11/2023 15:17

Oh and stomach pains, nausea and slight runs...

brokenbitbybit · 24/11/2023 12:15

I tested negative multiple times.

Doctor prescribed me penicillin for tonsillitis. I'm onto day 5 and although it's not painful to swallow now every other symptom I still have

Sorry for anyone else with the same it's absolutely brutal. I'm still feeling terrible
