Im sure years ago the food standard was better than now?

Last couple of times i went theres been lack of staff, lack of food out, terrible tasting food!

Worst roast ever!

Has anyone had a decent one recently from here? Just curious as to if its just a local one thats bad 🤣

You don’t go to Toby Carvery for good food. You go to stuff yourself (hangover optional).

whatsappdoc · 18/11/2023 18:41

The lovely gravy hides most of the unappealing veg

IHeartGeneHunt · 18/11/2023 18:42

They used to be a lot better, but some are still nice now.

Judgedbycats · 18/11/2023 18:43

Our local one is very good, but we recently went to another and it was dreadful.

WorkCleanRepeat · 18/11/2023 18:44

Our local one is pretty good.

BigFatLiar · 18/11/2023 18:44

Local Toby's fine. Meat's usually OK, sometimes some of the veg is a bit over cooked.

bossybloss · 18/11/2023 18:45

The Yorkshire puddings used to be good!

Jingleeaster · 18/11/2023 18:55

I like their food. When I had to get a salad once it was very fancy. I think they were shocked someone just wanted salad with no extras, but I wanted to eat out with family and my diet was limited due to health.

Yes had lots of lovely meals there with my dad. He love Toby and loves a voucher

ThreeB · 18/11/2023 19:21

Toby, Harvester, Beefeater all fine.

We enjoy a good pub meal with friends but have noticed lots of pubs are trying to be Masterchef contestants rather than decent pub food.

TheThingIsYeah · 18/11/2023 19:29

Had a lovely breakfast there recently. Eat all you can buffet and a superb capuccino each, came to about £19 in total for two people.

I haven't done the carvery in ages, but my parents go regularly and moan that years ago you used to get loads of meat but now it's tissue paper thin slices.

AlifeOfPumpkinSpice · 18/11/2023 19:30

We're going for breakfast with santa 😂
It's for the kids to enjoy and I don't have to cook.

OhNaffOffYouWazzock · 18/11/2023 19:32

The last time we had one was when high school aged DC4 was a newborn. It was awful, chewy meat, over cooked veg, soggy roast potatoes and rock hard Yorkshire puddings.
PIL love them, they are folk who appreciate quantity rather than quality though.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 18/11/2023 19:32

My local one is really good. The only dodgy bit is the stuffing.

Isseywith3witchycats · 18/11/2023 19:33

Our local one is good the meat is tasty the veggies are plentiful and cooked well, the other one that is further out but have been to a couple of times the food isnt quite so good but for the price is ok i think its down to how well the chefs can cook and love a voucher which makes the price very good i couldnt cook the choice they do for two people for what it costs to eat there

Bookridden · 18/11/2023 19:33

I know that dissing Toby Carvery is popular, but I like them. The spuds and Yorkshires are good, and they're reasonably priced. But I also enjoy McDonald's and Subway, so I'm probably beyond the pale!

PuttingDownRoots · 18/11/2023 19:33

We sometimes go there with grandparents as my DF has coeliac disease. They are very organised on allergies.

Mamato29192 · 18/11/2023 19:34

I like it there. Foods good

Diamond345 · 18/11/2023 19:35

Never been, but I had an impressive Harvester meal last week. Food was spot on. Who’d have thought.

Blueeyedmale · 18/11/2023 19:36

I've only ever been to the one in Hilsea (Portsmouth) for the all you can eat breakfast and was absolutely fine 1q

SusanSHelit · 18/11/2023 19:39

There are two fairly locally to me, one is pretty good especially for the price of it, the other is dire.

I think you've just got unlucky with a bit of a crap one of op

NotTheGirlYoureLooking4 · 18/11/2023 19:46

Our local one the front of house told us that Head Office had made big cuts to staff on service. There were two tables stacked with used dishes as the staff hadn’t got the time to clear properly. We waited 30 mins to be seated for a pre-made booking where there were loads of empty tables. Felt bad for the staff as they were doing their best, but massively under resourced. I complained to head office as it really was not reasonable the pressure the staff were under.

Helluvawomen · 18/11/2023 19:53

I love mine and 25% off blue light pretty good
