The frozen fish in Lidl looks great and priced reasonably but I have never bought it before. Please share - what do you do with it?

Yellow fin tuna looks really good…

Desfrost then sear Tuna for salade nicoise
Smoked haddock is fantastic from frozen for kedgeree. I do it one pot- large frying pan with lid, fry onions in butter until soft, add garam masala and stir in a small cup of basmati rice/ portion. Add double the volume of rice of water. Place a fillet of haddock and an egg in its shell per person. Lid on, low flame for 15 minutes. Take the eggs out, stir through a big handful of peas while you peel and chop the eggs (I grate them) and serve with parsley/ coriander/ lemon.

Jamie fish pie. Lush. Mostly double cream and cheddar. Yum

I don't defrost fish if I am poaching it, either to have as it is, with a sauce, or for fish pie. I just cover it with liquid (water or stock if smoked, milk if not), add a bay leaf, onion and a couple of garlic cloves plus any other flavourings you fancy, bring to the boil and then switch off. Leave it covered for however long it needs to be cooked (5-10 minutes) and Bob's your uncle. Use the milk (if used) to make the sauce.
