Help getting the smoke smell out of horse

We were kindly gifted one of those large ride on horse toys. It’s in perfect condition and I’d love DD to have it but it has been kept in a house with smokers so smells strongly of smoke.

can I get rid of the smell or do I have to get rid? Any tips?

I thought it was a misspelling until I read your post. No great suggestions. Fabreeze or putting out in the fresh air.

Moominmoko · 17/11/2023 18:31

I went from thinking a real horse to an autocorrect fail for house!

Leaving it out in fresh air for a long time would help a lot but I think the smell will always linger a bit. Not really the best time of year to be airing something out unfortunately!

I was wondering what had happened to the poor horse! Toy horse makes more sense 😆

Maybe mix bicarbonate with washing softener and rub it through? Bicarbonate gets rid of smells

catsanddogsandrabbits · 17/11/2023 18:34

Wash it and use a mini Vax to suction off the excess water. Leave it outside in the fresh air to dry. (And hope for the best)

I had visions of someone Febreezing a real horse!

TheLadyIsAVamp · 17/11/2023 18:40

HG Odour eliminator is great, I got some on Amazon to use on a second hand rug.

3WildOnes · 17/11/2023 18:43

Can it fit in a black bin bag? If so put it in with a load of bicarb, shake and then leave for a couple of days.

LakeTiticaca · 17/11/2023 18:52

Rub it all over with bicarb. Leave it a few days then vacuum it off

LakeTiticaca · 17/11/2023 18:53

......and don't let your horse smoke, bad for its health 🤣🤣🤣

Malarandras · 17/11/2023 18:55

I was imagining some poor horse in a stable full of smokers and wondering why they don’t smell of horse?! Anyhow to get the smell out I would give it a sponge and leave it outside to dry, weather allowing. That’s worked for a few of my daughters fusty teddies.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 17/11/2023 18:58

Do they still make the anti Tobacco fabreeze? If not then maybe giving it a scrub with some washing powder and leaving it outside for a bit?

Lelliekelliee · 17/11/2023 20:02

Haha, apologies to those who came here expecting to have to report some kind of animal cruelty. I can assure you I do not have a real horse and if I did it would not be allowed to smoke.

Ok, so rub in some bicarbonate of soda and vaccum off. If that doesn’t work then I’ll try HG odour remover- how does that sound for a plan?!

I too was imagining a poor horse that had been in a fire or something 🙈. Glad to see it's a toy horse 😂. I'd wash it with some washing powder and spray with febreeze then leave outside.

Newuser75 · 17/11/2023 20:11

Or can you still buy shake n vac?

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 17/11/2023 20:12

Was going to ask if vaping was appropriate for your dhorse op...

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 17/11/2023 20:13

Vaping would be a lot safer in it's stable than actually smoking.......

nottaotter · 17/11/2023 20:24

I honestly was thinking a real horse had been near a bonfire😂
