Should I try new positions in bed?

Because I've ended up with quite a dip in the middle. I sleep on my own and am somewhat hefty. Should I try to sleep towards the edges more? Is there some kind of remedial foam under-matress thing I can get to compensate for the dip? I can't see that rotating the mattress will make any difference as the dip is right in the centre.

Turn the mattress over.

And/or get a topper.

Or ideally a new mattress.

Bluevelvetsofa · 17/11/2023 17:50

@NuffSaidSam exactly

I was going to suggest reverse cowgirl, but obviously not what you were looking for.

I should have said it's an IKEA foam one with a topper. I think it must be about 5 years old.

Not sure what you mean. 🤔

Just want to un-dip a dipped bed.

You can't un-dip a bed unfortunately.

Reverse cowgirl is for the mucky-minded, and yes that includes me as it's what I thought when reading the thread 😂

The title was totally for clicking

Anyone else's mind go in the gutter before they opened this thread or am I just a dirty mare. 😂😂😂

"they do it on purpose, Lynne"

maximist · 17/11/2023 18:29

For a short term solution you could try putting a folded up towel or blanket under the middle of the mattress, you'd have to experiment with size/number of layers, but it might just push it back up to flat.

It'll be those " sex people "

Tocktocknearlybedtime · 17/11/2023 18:55

Yep I went there too!!! 😁

WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive · 17/11/2023 20:29

This made me laugh.

The man in the mattress shop said you need to be not only flipping it, but changing the ends, ideally once a month. So one end one month, flip it the next, turn it to the other end the next month and flip it the next. Easy.

Mysterian · 17/11/2023 22:15

Should I be keeping a flipping log so I know how I've flipped it? I'm a chaotic type of person. I'll never remember.

Probably time for a new mattress after five years, and yes, my mind went there too, it's why I was reluctant to click on the thread!

Then you're always going to be uncomfortable in bed.
