Buying and Selling on Vinted

I've bought quite a few bits successfully on Vinted . When they have arrived I've opened and checked the items then immediately clicked the all is fine button so the money is released to the seller. Now I've started selling I am finding I'm waiting after receipt until Vinted release the funds a couple of days later as buyers aren't pressing the button to complete the sale. Have I just been unlucky that my buyers are in no hurry or is this a thing ? I'm guessing most people have easy access to the website and it literally takes seconds to complete the sale.

When I first bought an item on Vinted, the seller talked me through the process. I had no idea I had to click to say it was received in good condition.

Maybe communicate the same way? Send a message when you know it's been received, check all okay and ask/remind the purchaser to click the link.

I've been buying a lot of Vinted. I had no idea the buyer wasn't getting paid until the button was clicked. I might have not done so for a couple of days on some items. I'll make sure I do now.

Daftapath · 17/11/2023 15:38

What happens if the buyer doesn't ever click the button?

TherealmrsT · 17/11/2023 15:51

If the buyer never clicks the system auto completes the transaction after a period of time (which depends on sending method).

TaaLaa · 17/11/2023 18:26

I've noticed the same recently and I'm quite annoyed about it. I'm almost tempted to reflect this in their feedback.

Tykwai55 · 17/11/2023 20:05

To be fair, not everyone can open a package immediately. Kids, life, work. Sometimes it's taken me 2 days to open a package. I buy and sell, and just wait for the three days to pass if a buyer doesn't click immediately. But, I'm not desperate for the cash so maybe if I was, I would check in with the buyer to ask if they are happy? I certainly wouldn't write it in their feedback!

Lewiscapaldiscat · 17/11/2023 20:15

ive found this and despite sending proof they have received the item and checking all is ok they don’t approve the purchase and as I use Royal Mail it takes a month to get paid. Very frustrating and off putting.

DahliaJ · 17/11/2023 20:22

Sometimes it takes me a while to collect a parcel, sometimes to open it too, especially if I am away with work - so ‘clicking’ is when I can.

When you sign up for Vinted, you agree to the terms and conditions. I am always within the time frame set by Vinted, so acceptable.

verrymerryberry · 17/11/2023 20:31

I've been selling on vinted for ages and noticed this more recently- no one clicks everything is ok and it just auto completed and auto pays

Also feedback is getting thin on the ground!

Really find it annoying give the effort that goes into vinted selling- I like to know a buyer is happy with there item.

Still love it though

Thank you for your comments . I have had a couple of sales complete this morning, though nothing from the Royal Mail ones who I have politely messaged. A month is a long time to wait for RM payments. I'll just have to learn to be patient but also remember to consider Vinted isn't a quick fix to make some money in a hurry.

A month is a long time.
Vinteds system should clear a delivered / collected parcel after two days if the buyer fails to mark as complete or raise an issue.

As it’s Royal Mail that’s the problem area for you, are you putting the tracking details onto Vinted after sending ?
If not then their system does not know it was delivered

GordoStevensMustache · 18/11/2023 10:56

You can also turn royal.mail off in the settings so that buyers don't have that option.

This is what I do. Payment t is quite quick with both EVRI and inpost.

WhyMeWhyNowWhyNot · 18/11/2023 10:58

Yes I only use Evri - made the mistake early on of not turning the other options off!

verrymerryberry · 19/11/2023 08:26

I've also switched if Royal Mail

I don't offer Royal mail anymore but previously i have contacted vinted with the proof of delivery and they have updated it.

Bumface56 · 19/11/2023 11:23

I use Royal Mail and always upload the proof of posting. The payment is released as normal and I have never had to wait a month.

thecatsthecats · 19/11/2023 11:48

I collected a parcel then went into hospital later that day to give birth. It took me a few days to open it up and approve that one!

I think you need to accept that as a quirk of the system and not expect shop-level service from amateurs.

How long did it take you to inspect and approve the hospital delivery?

;-)
