Dilemma - 2 part time jobs or 1 full time?

Would like some advice if possible please. Have posted on the work chat but not got any replies.

I am 20 years in a job, have spent the last 10 working part time (reduced from full time) . DS is going to secondary school next year and won’t need me as much, therefore I was considering going full time again , but unable to in my current job.

The hours are convenient (at the moment) and the job fairly easy and stable but there is a bit of a toxic culture amongst the employees and I’m not included in most social things now.

I suppose the main aim is to make new friends but I was wondering whether it would be better to take on another part time role in the evenings (so I’m still around for DS for when he leaves for school / arrives home) or to look for a full time position in another Job completely.

I guess I’m fearing the unknown and losing the stability I have currently but I just know I’m not happy with the way things are.

Does anyone have any advice or experience?

Tricky one... How easy is it to find part time work in your field?

If the office culture is that poor I'd give serious consideration to jumping ship. Unless you work in a super niche area, if you go full time in a new work place and you don't like it you can look for another job.

I’d rather be around for my teenager in the evening than in the morning/ immed after school.

one of my colleagues works similar hours to me and also has a part time job elsewhere in the evenings which has inspired me to be honest, I just don’t know if it’s the best thing though as the job I have is super stable and the pay is good for a part time job.

I agree with this, as we found that at this age they started needing more and more lifts to places in the evenings and liked a bit of time home alone after school. A job where you can be home by about 5.30 works well at this age I found.

Thanks all, I think going full time elsewhere is the way to go, just hope it’s not as bad as my current workplace!
