I put an item of furniture on Facebook and three people want it. The last to reply in a flurry of 5 people is a friend of mine who I would like to give it to but is it fairest to give to the first person who offered ? I tried to sell it previously and offered on my personal page but no takers until I offered it for free now everyone wants it

I’d personally give it to a friend.

Cornishmumofone · 16/11/2023 21:39

They have no idea who else messaged you, so give it to your friend!

Pollyparkin · 16/11/2023 21:42

They all posted one after the other on the listing. No direct messages.

Then say you received a private message and are selling it to that person... then message your friend that she can have it for free.

Hereforthedramaz · 16/11/2023 21:49

100% give it to your friend, mostly because for some reason with freebies people are shocking about not turning up etc.

Someone you know is much much more likely to come as arranged.

I’d far rather give to a friend than a stranger. If no one I know o give it to the politest person if I get a lot of replies in quick succession! It’s your stuff and you’re giving it away for free, they can’t complain 🤷‍♀️

First come first served is not a rule.

Give it to you whoever you want to give it to, that may not neccessarily be the friend.

fancyfrogs · 16/11/2023 22:04

Private message friend giving it to them then comment on your listing that it's sold now. Job done 😊
