A phone but not a phone?

I'm looking for something for my 9yo son. I'm planning on getting my 6yo and my niece a vtech kidizoom snap for Christmas and I don't want my big one to feel left out. But the same product is a bit baby ish? Is the kidicom advance any good does anyone know?

Is there something else I could get so he doesn't feel he's missing out?

Would a Kindle Fire do? You can probably get a reconditioned model.

An iPod touch, if they’re still a thing.

He has a kindle fire. So it sort of feels unnecessary but I don't want him to feel left out if his brother and cousin are playing with their 'phones'.
